I can highly recommend Gunsite. Been there 2X. Whatever class you go to try and see who the head instructor will be, if it's Ed Stock Take It.

If you cant get to Gunsite for a week I would also recommend TFTT out of LA. Great courses and instructors.

If you do make it to gunsite stop by and see my friend Hans Vang of VANGCOMP Shotguns for a look at the best tactical shotgus out there.

I'm not using that as a put down. I think the third gen. is a completely appropriate description. You may think he provides top tier training, but that doesn't really change where he stands on the training lineage/timeline/whateveryawantacallit. I was just trying to point out that there are a lot more trainers out there now, which makes sense when you look at how the knowledge has spread.

Thanks to all participants for not falling into the name calling and ego trap games. It can be hard to discuss some of the more "colorful" personalities without things turning into an online mudwrestling match.

Which would be fine if we were all cute 25 year old blonds

Seriously, it is hard to not turn this into a religious debate. I think many of the trainers are using a marketing strategy along the lines of "train with me, everybody else is rubbish and you will get killed" and this is feeding the fire.

The advice should be to train at a couple of places with different instructors. I get something new from each.

WRT Suarez and his insurance fraud. It appears, from googling, that he retired from the Santa Monica Police Department on disability from a back injury. That Department found out he was teaching and this lead to an insurance fraud case. It is unclear what the truth is on his "guilt". You can sign up for his forum (Warriortalk.com) and look for the "Gabe's Story" thread to here it from his side.

          Front Sight...

I have attended a few classes at Front Sight and every time I came away satisfied with the training I received. I plan on attending again.

If you are in SoCal check out ITTS/Scott Reitz for good instruction in tactics. Tactical Response's FIGHTING PISTOL kicks *** if you lack the mindset. You won't by the end of the course...

Any reason that no one has mentioned Thunder Ranch? I have been really really tempted to go visit/train there while in Oregon visiting relatives
