Would this qualify for a CCW

We all know that getting a CCW in San Diego is next to impossible. But tonight found out that there was two guys in our carport area with a gun. The police were called and they were taken away. The Although rumor has it the owner is thinking of putting garage doors on to the car park area which would make at least part of it enclosed. The area we live in is OK but not the "best" part of town. We do have a big issue with homeless and druggies in the area. Then again that seems to be almost anywhere in town these days. While I do not scare easy I dislike walking in the neighborhood by myself at night. I will if I have no choice but I try to avoid it when possible.

My question is this though now would that show just cause in needed to defend oneself? Usually getting a police officer to show up is next to impossible. Sad part is there are a couple of pro gun people here in the complex but a majority are anti-gun.

Me too but I have a feeling your right. I got attacked at my school and still can't get a CCW. Was told to not even file when I asked . I still might try it anyways...although I was hoping we would have had some good news on Nordyke and it would have been a moot point.

If you use that for GC, you'll probably get rejected and instructed to call PD instead.

The better your real world reason to be issued a CCW permit, the less likely you are to receive a permit.

The more money you donate to the right people's campaign funds, the more likely you are to receive a permit.

The only workable alternative I'm aware of is hiring the right attorney and spending your money to have the attorney front your application through the process.

Sounds a bit shy of OK. Carry a knife and/or strong mace and/or a strong stun gun.

If it's a no go on the ccw, have you considered pepper spray or a taser?

In SD, CCW issuance seems to go to attorneys (angry clients), doctors (prescription drugs), judges (unhappy defendants), business (owners, managers who are transporting cash, property) and citizens with documented threats (violent ex-boyfriend, spouse, stalker).

For now, the best you can do is carry pepper spray, etc., non-lethal means to ward off any attacker, but not a firearm. With a new sheriff in 2010 possible, that could change the whole ballgame, as would judicial rulings expected next year. In the meantime, don't do anything that would mess up your RKBA.

So I am just curious, out of everyone who is giving this guy advice. Who has actually applied for a CCW?

Yeah well with my past experience getting the PD to show up here is not easy. Took them a bit to show up when the management called on these guys. Now mind you its not that they don't have officers in this part of town. Example is tonight we saw six police cars in a matter of five minutes tonight all in the same block...but that is a typical Friday night in this part of town.

I have documented attack on file and was still told to not even bother filing. I have no desire to mess up my RKBA so I am not going to do anything stupid. Just sucks is all that even with two very good reasons the chances of my getting a CCW is nil. I am so looking forward to seeing a new sheriff come in to play here.

Someone else suggested knife yes I carry one as for mace I don't carry that.

Take a CCW class, have instructor stamp application, turn in application and if denied, take legal action.

Yeah, that works great. Take on an organization with practically unlimited funds.

You might have $50K+ sitting around burning a hole in your pocket, but most people don't.
