could superglue effectively hold ghost ring sites on a shotgun?

    Let me explaine my stupidity'
First of all I called some local gunsmith's in my area and they quoted me at 150 to drill and tap my shotgun. Also there is currently a 6 to 8 week waiting period. So my question is could I superglue ON some ghost ring sites on my shotgun and not worry about it flying off due to the heat and recoil when shooting ?

    Math:
    Drilling 150 + 130 for ghost ring sites = 280 added to a 500 shotgun " 870 marine magnum"

    Or the cheapo way.
    130 GRS + a pinch of superglue.

So would it hold or can I mess up the shotgun?

If you are gonna do that, at least try JB weld.
That stuff is not coming off for sure.

I think I'd rather see you use sheet metal screws.

Does this stuff really work like advertised? Because my heat shield with ghost ring sights on my mossy doesn't stick down as much as it should on the front, this would be great to keep it down to make the sights more even/accurate...

Well, you certainly want to have super accurate sights on a shotgun.

Friend of mine epoxy welded front sight over his bead. It came off. He's had it also come off w JB weld. All kidding aside, it might be cheaper to sell your shotgun and then buy a newer one that is already drilled and tapped.

Ok. there is welding, and there is epoxy. I've never heard of epoxy welding.
Maybe if you can make the epoxy look like a bead........um no.
                  I'm sorry, Epoxy welding......FAIL

First you are calling the wrong guy for that kind of money unless it included the sights.

If you have the front site soldered on you will have to get the barrel refinished or use a band. There's a lot to this I might overlook so contact
www.davesmetalworks.com and get a great job done, quickly for not a lot of cash.

You might also contact AR15 barrels on here he does great work but I don't know if he does shotgun stuff.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

You can buy a drill bit, tap and screws at orchard. There is not a lot to it, mark your holes, center punch, drill with oil, and tap, also with oil. Clean it up with something to remove the oil, when you screw the screws in, you can use the super glue on them to hold them in.

Absolutely. It will hold them on indefinately, unless you decide to actually fire your shotgun. Then, all bets will be off, just like your sights.

                        $150 seems like too much.

Either trade for a shotgun set up the way you want, or pay to have yours properly set up the way you want. Anything less would be uncivilized.

BMW used it years ago for a factory warranty repair of a cylinder head corrosion on the headgasket sealing surface, you tell me. From experiance, it works.

I do shotgun work as well.

This job sounds like a $30-$60 type job that I would finish up in less than an hour while he waits...

I just made myself a special set of vise jaws for holding shotgun barrels by the rib as I had to cut dovetails in a Benelli barrel recently...
