1: It's not people like us that are hoarding (Ok, so I'm hoarding, but I'm not running out and maxing out the credit card to do it, and I'm only buying when I get a good deal).I'm with you to a certain extent a1fabweld, but do you really think this ammo hoarding crap is going to do anything? It's just making it hard for everyone in the long run, and in the grand scheme of things it's self imposed gun control. Yes there is a definite possibility of more gun control with a Democratic administration and congress. But there is still no concrete plan, and even if there was, panic is never the becoming option for a politically minded movement. Cooler heads are the only ones that prevail, and going out and buying all the ammo Wal-Mart has does nothing for the cause; it is irresponsible and short sighted.
Not to mention how flawed a plan it is. The entire premise of mega ammo hoarding as a concept is this super worst case scenario where ammo and guns are banned. If the government gets that aggro do you really think they're going to just go, "Well I see you have a couple billion rounds of ammo there... Smart move guys, you beat us to the punch." No, the government that has the power to do something so drastic as, say, ban all ammo and guns, has more than enough power to confiscate it all regardless of when you bought it. The government even now has more than enough power, including manpower, to do just that and what's worse they've had it for decades.
The solution to this problem is protest and political activism. We don't affect political change by taking a U-Haul down to the gun store for a shopping spree. All we do that way is screw up the gun economy, hurting ourselves and everyone else whose pro-2A in the process. I think a person would be better served if they took the money they're blowing on an armory's worth of gear and donated it to the NRA and Calguns.
2: The Obama administration and Democratic majority in Congress are a threat. Last time I checked, the time to worry about a threat was when the threat had the means and will to attack you, not when they have a plan to do it. They have the means and definitely the will to try something and that's why people are freaked out.
3: And Obama has tried pushing gun control through, though it's been kept pretty quiet. Remember when he urged the Senate to ratify that North American gun control treaty that Clinton signed?sigpicNRA MemberOriginally posted by Deadbolt"We're here to take your land for your safety"

A previous writer was right on with respect to lack of ammo availability being self-imposed gun control. A year and a half ago, I used to go to the local range once or twice a week. Mostly .22 LR and anything I could find "cheap" in 9mm reloads. Haven't been to the range since May because of ammo availability but more important, ammo cost! When centerfire ammo is in the $30-$40 per box range, I just can't play.
As we see gun control can be accomplished simply by controlling the supply of ammo or it's components.
I do happen to have reloading equipment but finding the time (and desire) to sit at a bench churning out rounds is no longer the fun it was when I was younger.
Anymore, being healthy is important. I can get all the bicycling gear I want. And it's affordable. I'll move on to something else when bike inner tubes reach $30-$40 per tube.Comment
