Nice job... but a .308 to start and then a 50 caliber? Man I wish I was thrown into the fire like that... Pretty well written and nice content. Thanks for sharing with us all here on CalGuns!!

I posted a comment under the article and hopefully those that happen to come across it will be inspired to try the same thing. I really liked that the underlying basis for going out and shooting was to face a percieved fear of something. Perhaps the anti's could take a lesson from this petite woman.

I had the opportunity to at Panoche but didn't even think to ask because I was leaving with my ride. I know the next time I'm around one of those I'm asking. I'll even pay for the round.

I just received this reply from Jamie after sending her an email regarding her article, our sport, and my request that she spread some good will, especially in light of current idiotic legislation, in particular AB 962 (see my earlier post)

              Her Response:

              Hi Chris,
Thank you so much for reading my article. I'm so flattered that it has been making the circuit through your forums with such positive feedback! This is my most popular article I've written to date, thanks to you all!
I never thought I'd ever get the chance to go to the shooting range, and I'm so thankful I have because it has given me a new awareness to a passion and a sport that many people often criticize, and I'm glad that I could have helped in any way possible to let other people understand the misconceptions behind owning a firearm. The fact that I am a young woman who never even touched a gun before will hopefully add even more in helping people understand that normal, every day, law abiding citizens like you and me can partake in an activity that many feel is just as American of a pastime as, let's say, baseball!
I am a student at UCLA, which means that my demographic are people who are younger and more liberal minded than other generations of people throughout the country. Being in an environment like this, however, allows a greater ability for people to openly state their opinions and to create meaningful debate about oftentimes difficult and complicated situations. I am very glad that students are also reading the article, because I think that this is the first step in giving people a greater awareness of the situation. I'm surprised that many students commented on how they have also been inspired to try it out for themselves!
While I feel like I may not be the best spokesperson for the new legislations that are trying to be passed, I would love it if we could possibly pose the question on the article and I can ask my fellow students what they feel about it. This could be a great way to open up a forum and help break the division between our two sides of the political spectrum! Please feel free to post your question on the article, and I'll send out a facebook message to the students who are subscribed to my articles, asking them to take a look at the article and your comments and to make their own comments about the legislation.
I would love to help out in any way I can and I hope that we can both work to take a healthy and positive stance about an issue that is so often misinterpreted and misunderstood!
Thanks again for reading and I'm truly so thankful for all of the positive feed back I'm getting on the Calgun forum! Please send everyone my thanks for me!

Hope to hear from you soon,
              Jamie

I emailed her some suggestions on the terminology/weapon descriptions she used in the article and she happily changed them. No more "killing machine"....

Your .22 would be perfect if she brings her first timer friends. Way cheaper too.
