    No. It's both an assault weapon and an SBS under CA law. He couldn't even buy it without getting his chief to sign off on it.

      It is an SBS per CA law, but it is debatable to whether or not it is an AW. Shotguns with revolving cylinders are AWs, but a shotgun is defined as a shoulder-fired firearm. A Judge is not a shoulder-fired firearm and does not meet the definition of a shotgun, so the shotgun AW regs should not apply to it. the SBS regs do not require that the firearm be a shotgun, just that it can fire a fixed shotgun shell.
