You can spend another $20.00 bucks and get one already finished, and by the time you get done hacking away at the unfinished one with what tools you have in your garage, It takes a special jig and a few other thing to do one right, you will more than likely have nothing more than a $125.00 paper weight..when done.
You can buy one of the jigs and go nuts and drill all the extra metal away, drill all the pin holes and the thing still needs to be finish coated.
Maybe I am just cheap and lazy but for $145.00 for a Double Star lower I cant see the point!sigpic

The point is that some people enjoy making their own firearms and like the challange of finishing an 80% lower. Others make them because they need a pistol lower, and purchasing one through a dealer can be difficult. And still others want "off the books" firearms, and finishing an 80%'er allows them to to that.Jack
