Pasadena Turners - PPT

4:00pm - I show up at GunRunners to transfer a lower to another CG'er. Buyer is already there and GunRunners is already doing the paper work for the PPT.
4:02pm - I hand GunRunners my ID and the buyer pays me for the lower. GunRunners asks me for my phone number and state of birth.
4:07pm - The lady at GunRunner's tells me, I'm done and I can go now.

4:30pm - I arrive at Turners in Pasadena to transfer an SKS. The store is kinda messy - tags on the ground and the handgun cases look chaotic and a little bare. I want to transfer my rifle, but I have to wait for the buyer...
4:53pm - Buyer arrives. Turners employees are busy transferring some rifles/handguns to buyers. Employee says, we close at 6pm, there might not be enough time to transfer the SKS because PPT's take 1 full HOUR. Wait here...
5:23pm - Turner Employee gets to us, yeah guys there isn't enough time to transfer the SKS. Come back tomorrow, but know that it's going to take 1 full hour to PPT the rifle.

Why on earth does it take Turners in Pasadena 1 full hour to perform a PPT? I've done a PPT at this Turners a year ago, I remember it did take a long time, almost an hour. Is this the case at every Turners?

I'm voting with my wallet and never returning to them. They had a Benelli SuperNova I wanted to buy, time to look elsewhere.

Does anybody know any FFL's open on Sunday that's a reasonable driving distance for two parties in Arcadia and Simi Valley?

Call Big 5 and ask in advance about the SKS...they are sketchy on black rifles but an experienced manager will know that the SKS is not one. They will most likely do it and it is around $10-15 bucks, and done pretty fast.

I agree about Turners Pasadena

2 Hours and 10 minutes - TO THE MINUTE.....For a PPT on 1 M1a and a Mini 14. I'd never go back there.

I've been to Turners to buy/sell twice, but both times the other party knew someone in the store. I think if it was me or someone who didn't, they'd be SOL.

There are plenty of places in Glendale/Burbank that would do it. Off the top of my head, GunGallery, GunWorld, Once A Pawn a Time, Big 5 (I think), and if you want to drive a little more, IAC.

Rancho Cucamonga on the Ontario boarder there is a place called Magnum Range off of vineyard...They are open 7 days a week and I believe till 6pm on sunday call them and ask..I did a PPT on an AR there they were nice fast and have a nice range, also great prices on guns!! (909) 987-1299

I did a private party at Turner's the other day and it was $40. They have a "Turner's $5 handling fee." added onto the $35 transfer. They also make you buy a lock then and there. I thought I could show up with one when I picked it up as long as I had a current receipt. I normally buy the lock at the walmart across the street from my work then return it. Mark

I have to say I have NEVER been to a Turners... But they get bashed the most here on Cal Guns.

I am thinking they would change the way they do there work there or just go away...

Was at Turners Reseda this morning. PPT took about 10-12 minutes max.

Then was at Ammo Bros later today for another PPT. Took about 45 minutes. Contrary to internet talk AmmoBros always takes a long time, even when they are empty.

So many factors involved. At least they were kind enough to warn you they probably wouldn't be able to do it.

Yeah, I'd give them that. It almost seemed like he didn't want me to come back and do the transfer by telling me it's going to take 1 full hour.

In any case, I'm going to try Gun Gallery. Thanks for the ideas guys, I was dreading the idea of returning to Turners Pasadena tomorrow. Didn't know about the other choices.


I got bought a Sig P6 from Turners in Orange, and PPT'ed a 92fs from Turners in Oceanside...a while back...those two transfers were done in reasonable time.

Traffic. Turners gets more traffic than Gunrunners.

I did a PPT at Turners in Orange, We waited 1.5 hours just to be waited on, and then took 30 minutes to do paperwork for 2 long guns. 2 hours total. I didin't have to buy locks, as they let me sign the safe affidavit.

Went to Ade's in Orange, did a PPT on one longrifle, took 20 minutes tops
Went to Independant Arms in San Fernando, PPT, took about 15 minutes.

Something is up at Turners, they are seriously understaffed for the amount of business that is TRYING to come through the doors, I do not blame the employees, as they were nice and being as helpful as they could given the situation of 3 guys triyng to help 15 people. One guy told me they just got word they are cutting their hours back, I am WTF? You need MORE people here! I hope they figure it out, as I like Turners.

I asked one of the guys over at the Fountain Valley store (which I never have any problem with, even PPT's) why their PPT's took a little longer, and he kindly gave me the rundown on how PPT's work for them. It takes more time because of their computer system. First, they have to create an account for the buyer and the seller if they are not in their database already. Then, they have to bring the firearm into their inventory using their software. Next, they have to transfer the firearm from the seller to the buyer using their software (this part takes the longest). Lastly, they have to do the CA DROS. The longest I waited for a PPT at the FV location was about 45 minutes, and the guy helping me out was happy to take care of it.
