In reading the attachment. What are the other main issues besides requiring a thumb print and stopping mail order ammo sales? I am not talking about the argument that if this bill gets passed, what is next and all of that I am sure will be said.

This attachment seems to be a "watered down" version of what the bill originally had in it. I am guessing the lined out areas are language that no longer is applicable?

I'm not in favor of thumb prints (and other information from ammunition purchasers, as specified) or higher ammo prices. It's hard enough to get ammo as it is. Cut off out-of-state suppliers, and ammo will get even harder to find.

Other stuff that bothers me is:

The bill would prohibit supplying or delivering, as specified, handgun ammunition to prohibited persons, as described, by persons or others who know, or by using reasonable care should know, that the recipient is a person prohibited from possessing ammunition or a minor prohibited from possessing ammunition, as specified. Violation of these provisions is a misdemeanor with specified penalties. If you want to sell some extra ammo you have - lets say on Calguns... you better ask the buyer for a background check to make sure they're not a criminal. The burden is now on you.

The bill would provide, subject to exceptions, that commencing July 1, 2010 February 1, 2011 , the delivery or transfer of ownership of handgun ammunition may only occur in a face-to-face transaction, with the deliverer or transferor being provided bona fide evidence of identity of the purchaser or other transferee. A violation of these provisions would be a misdemeanor. Opps... forgot to get a copy of the buyers drivers license - you're now a criminal.

      This part I love:
      By creating new crimes,
      And:
this bill would impose a state-mandated local program.

Making new criminals in the state and adding another state-mandated program... (just what we don't need).

      IMHO

Thanks for pointing out those items. I too am not in favor of these restrictions, but they would not make me buy ammo for a gun that I do not own as others in this thread would do.It is very interesting to see how different people react to the pending bills and legislation out there. As it is for me,I can hardly find and afford the ammo for the guns I do have, so buying a few hundred dollars of ammo to hopefully trade to someone when the time comes is not an option.

I don't have any money either... So, I'm not buying ammo for guns I do or don't have.

22lr. ammo seems to be hard to find too. At least it's affordable when you come across it.

Good choice to leave it behind. You likely wouldn't like someone buying ammo you need for a gun they don't have
