Do you feel the same way about American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan? The old "Don't expect my support until you solve all of my problems for me" attitude? Great. Just great.

Yes. Only the military has solved a lot more problems. Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Civil War, WWI, WWII, etc.
The NRA has been given a lot of money and throws some dinners, gives out some guns, and hasn't put forth the same effort as the military.

The military gets things done when the politicians aren't involved. I'm still waiting on the NRA, but since they really are virtual politicians themselves I wont hold my breath.

Wow So unless NRA suddenly gets the AW ban removed, CCW for all, Machine guns for everyone, and no other compromises, you will not support them in trying to get that done? Wow........ just........ wow

So, in the meantime, what are you doing to ensure that you retain your 2A rights?

You're looking at the situation through California-colored glasses. Federally the NRA has done a kickass job recently. Right-to-carry states have increased from 9 to 41 since 1986, the Fed AWB was allowed to expire, the NRA helped get the Heller decision (granted the NRA was not initially on board but reconciled), they got a dozen states to pass laws saying they can't confiscate weapons during emergencies a la Katrina. They've helped demolish San Francisco's handgun bans...twice. They've sued Chicago over a similar ban, which may well end up deciding incorporation in the Supreme Court. The list goes on and on. The mere fact that we were able to make it through the Clinton administration to today with federal gun laws pretty much exactly how they were before speaks volumes toward their influence. Federally the pro-gun side has been on the offensive and winning for a good while now. California still likes to pass draconian bills like AB962, but with legislative representation in this state being 63% Democrat you can hardly blame the NRA for every lousy bill that gets passed.

simple fix- call them and ask to be put on the "do not promote" list.
