Sometimes folk get emotional about things, and forget to show their true brilliance.

It happens, and the mods are usually pretty good about putting out fires, but the internetz is far from perfect.

This site is pretty good about keeping the discussions civil, and very good about cutting slack to us newbies. I've gotten away with a few remarks I probably should have been dinged for.

One thing I'd like to point out: The patience that many have shown in the heat of debate has helped me to remain calm, civil, and communicative.

      Enjoy, fellow newbie!

Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

They patrol the board pretty well. Bloodydecks is almost the worst, but there is one LA dive BBS that is depressing to read.

Stay out of the 2A politics and off topics forums and things are pretty civil here.

I agree with joepamjohn. Oftentimes I feel that you have to be an English Major in order to post here. I noticed people being rediculed or insulted for their spelling or grammar. I think this discourages some potential members from joining in because of their poor grasp of the English language. MHO.

Thanks for the reply, my main reason for suggesting PM's was to take it off the forum so as not to burden the others who wish to participate in the thread subject. Many times a couple of folks start "shooting" at each other in the thread and it becomes problematic for the people that want to just participate in the subject.

I may have worded it a tad differently.

This is what is in his rules:

c)No spamming(solicitation of goods unrelated to calguns.net that are
unwanted by users),trolling, flaming or other personal attacks. You may
disagree with other posters but please keep it clean and civil.

Many gun owners are very opinionated, and set in their ways. There's also the macho factor, and the very prevalent "if you disagree with me it's only because..
                          a.) you're an idiot
b.) you've been brainwashed by blah blah blah
c.) you've got some secret ulterior motive, and you're only here to sabotage the 2nd Amendment.

Once that happens, it's not about debate anymore, it's just about ridicule.

As for the spelling and grammar nazi's...
This isn't 4chan, facebook, or some site about cars or football. This is a site about gun ownership and promoting the 2nd Amendment. Ultimately we're trying to promote clear headed, intelligent, mature, responsible gun ownership. It's a guarantee that non-gun owners and anti-gun organizations monitor this site looking for anything they can use against us or make us look bad. Many of the battles fought for the 2nd Amendment are fought, in some ways, in the court of public opinion. Guns + stupid is not a good look for us.

Sometimes people are gonna hold you to a higher standard here, as opposed to other websites, for a reason. Don't take it personally. Think of it like you're helping, even if in just a tiny way, to promote the 2nd Amendment.

Vote for pro-gun candidates, or lose your rights, and the rights of future generations. That's it. The end.

I think some people have to be right even if they are wrong. I was taught also that sometimes when your right, Sometimes your still wrong. I think alot of the older members will get that one.

For the ones that dont get it, It refers to giving people an out to save face.Instead of continuing to prove them wrong. I.E being the better man.
