    Firearms at hotels

I've read about many of you taking a firearm (primarily handgun) with you while staying in a hotel/motel.

What is your method of securing the firearm when you aren't in the room? Do you leave it in the super secure in-room hotel safe? Do you take it with you and leave it in the truck of your vehicle (something I'm always paranoid about)?

    What do you do?

Are those hotel room safes not particularly secure? Because whenever we're in Vegas, we always use the room safes and have never had a problem or even heard of one. I'm sure there's a skeleton key/master code but is there something you know that most of us don't?
I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

If the in room safes weren't secure the hotels would have a big problem. On a side note, the hotel may have a safe. Hand them a secure bag and tell them you want a deposit receipt.

The hotel safes are secure. Some are coded and a computer spits out the code for attachment to your room card length of stay. The only time you have problems is when you leave the safes open ( which happens more often than you think.
I personally take the gun with me.

All the room safes let us program our own codes. But like I said, I'm sure there's a master code.

The firearm generally goes with me. Handguns on my person, long guns in a case. If it's a state my CHL isn't recognized, I lock them in the trunk. Should I have to leave the gun behind, it goes in the room safe or I drop it off at the front desk, tell them I want a receipt. Never had a problem.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

I carry it with me all the time. Also, I leave "do not disturb" sign on the door for the duration of my stay. When I need something, I call the front desk to bring them to me when I am there.

                      That's what we do.

Until halfway through our stay in Vegas, the sign mysteriously disappeared...

I always bring a handgun with me to any CA hotels I go to. When sleeping, its on the side table next to the bed. If I go out, it goes into the in-room safe.

I was at a hotel yesterday that did not have an in-room safe, so when i went out, the gun went into the car with me.
