    Philipine RKBA

I seen a few youtube videos with Phillipinos shooting firearms and a Calguns mention of a Phillipine gunsmith who installs FA Glock autosears. Are any Calgunners familiar with gun laws and RKBA over there. Just curious.

AFAIK, you have to jump through certain amount of hoops - exams, sign offs from local chief of police or what not, but once you're done you can have a full auto weapon. The law is kind of in flux, because president Estrada signed an order a few years back which allowed civilians to own any non-crew served weapons, which conflicted with pre-existing law...but I guess people are getting while the getting is good.

im in the philippines right now and there are no restrictions as far as i can tell. i shoot full auto m16 all the time in the Armscor Firing Range in Marikina. you just have to get your a gun license and pay the license fee every year. Another thing to remember is that once you have a license for your firearm you can not take it outside your house without either a permit to transport or a permit to carry. Both are pretty easy to get if you have money and ask around.

Another route is by joining a gun club, they are usually sponsored by the military and have special permits call "mission orders" that allow them to carry.

Getting full-auto things is relatively easy in the philippines. I was at the gun show last month in Manila and there were plenty of full-autos for sale. Its actually pretty strange how armed people are here. Im starting to think every house has a firearm in it.

There apparently is a lot of politics and "donations" involved. As you pretty much have to be fairly well connected to get a permit. It's basically a rich man's sport. I don't know how it is now, but thats what my father said it was like back when we lived there and he was an avid shooter thanks to some family members that were well connected politically. It's either that or the black market. Things may have changed dramatically as his info is roughly 20 years old.

I was just asking about Fillipino gun laws just yesterday when I was at Soak City. Outcome of that conversation: I have two people that I am going to take shooting!

You got that right!!! Im Filipino (Ilocano if it matters) but was born here in the states. Yes there are gun laws but giving the cops a few bucks and a few drinks will help.

Last time I was there in 04', the armed guards (not police) at the 7-11 type convenience store had FA M16's. I was blown away at the hardware they carried!

Look at how many times they've been occupied buy a foreign country in the last 125 years. I wouldn't say it's a big surprise as to why they allow citizens to own full-auto weapons.

It's a great place to live in.. as long as you arent working there. My uncle owns several FA guns. I believe one of em was an XM177, I'd have to recheck. Also, darn near every gun owning Filipino shoots a 1911. LOL
