    Firearm Transfer from parent

My mom lives in Dallas and she wants to transfer me various firearms. I'm in California. These are mostly gen 4 Glocks and some other ones I haven't heard of, so they're mostly off roster.

Is there a limit to how many she can transfer to me?

Also are there any forms that I'll need to complete and submit to California DOJ? I imagine that at the very least there's some form I need to fill out to declare that I've taken custody of these pistols.

    Thanks in advance.

It will need to go thru an FFL(no forms that you can submit will be needed). Talk to your receiving FFL as they?ll tell you what they need for inter familiar transfer.

See Abe at golden state in azusa he does interstate intrafamilial transfers. Or Dave at shootcocal in Fullerton.

As of now there is no limit to how many guns your mom can transfer to you via intra-familial transfer. However there might be the new 1 in 30 rule coming into effect Jan.1 2025 unless it gets overturned. All out of state intra-familial transfers have to be shipped to a CA FFL.

Only intra-familial transfers where both reside in the state of CA dont require the use of an FFL. You simply fill out this form along with a check of $19.

You're right on the money with the minor exception that all intrafamilial (in-state) transfers must be submitted electronically on the CFARS system. I don't believe they accept mailed-in applications anymore. Even if they do, the electronic one will give you a better paper trail (as it were) and may be dealt with more expeditiously.

Also July 1 2024 the 11% excise tax kicks in. I have no idea if intra-familial transfers are exempt from the 11% excise tax but I wouldn't wait around to find out.
