    Maybe they do it whenever newer bullet/powder variants are created and they try to drive innovation within the industry to prevent stagnation, where no new ideas are tried out.

      my dream would be if beretta could make a narrow grip 8000 series with it using mec gar magazines that flush fit over 20 rounds

          Not a bad round, but commercial success of a new caliber has little to do with the paper specs. The problem with 30SC is that the ammo, brass, bullets and handguns are not readily available. And it's all about adding a round or two into the already pretty high capacity double-stack guns...
