This site also lists a different part # for USP models - https://www.topgunsupply.com/hk-maga...p-9-40-45.html

    Same as this one
Check out the deal on Heckler And Koch USP Magazine Release Spring at MGW

Which makes we wonder if the website listing and spring you are using is not correct and putting enough tension on the mag release, etc.

It is a $10 part and might be worth it to swap after some research on your end.

There seems to be one spring for USP Compact, HK45 and other models, another for USP full size models.

Should have asked earlier, but HK model do you have exactly?

I know what you mean about seating that spring properly. I have reinstalled the release and spring many many times trying to fix this problem. I compress the spring with a small flathead and then the release kinda snaps into the place, everything feels fine right regarding its placement in the frame.

Sounds like the mag release is not engaging solidly with the mags, though if does engage somewhat if you can't pull it out with a slight yank.

Did you swap the spring, and/or the mag release yourself or previous owner/shop?
The extended mag release came with the gun from the previous owner. I changed the spring to try and remedy the problem. Then I went and bought another extended release after that (the one I linked above). So basically, the gun now has a brand new release and brand new spring with the same issue. I did also see that the release seems to be a universal part for a ton of different models which kind of had me wondering if that was an issue as well. I want to buy a new mag as a way to rule that out too

Extra mags are never a bad idea. Just number them so you know which is which.
Try the different spring and see, the other spring may be visibly longer, but you will only know once you have it in hand.

Another I can think of ws mentioned above is that your grip or manipulation of the USP may cause you to accidentally touch on the extended lever. Where are you located? Perhaps you can meet with another calgunner with a USP to test out yours, etc.

Mag falls out during shooting and when using the slide release.

When inserting the mag there isnt a very nice audible click, its there, but its not like other guns. It doesnt take much to seat the magazine. Maybe its a mag problem? The gun is from 1998 and I think the mags are as well.

            Thanks
if you are using the HK 45C mag release, then that is your problem. That mag release will not work without modification. The result, if you do not modify it is exactly what you described, the mag will fall out when firing. This is because the HK 45C mag release has a barely fingernail hold on the mag in a standard USP45 if it is not modified.

The HK 45C mag release has to be filed a bit so that it can engage the mag fully when used in a standard USP45. However, it is a very easy modification to do and well worth it in my opinion. All of my USP 45's have the mod.
