In the last two years I used SMG three times. Once for a rifle and two for handguns. All times I made the buyer aware that was going to use SMG and asked them for their FFL. If the FFL wasn?t on SMG list I told buyer to pick another. I was paying for shipping. In one case the initial FFL wasn?t on SMGs list but another was selected.

In all cases, it was super easy for me. The firearms arrived safely and everyone was happy.

And never a problem with the UPS mopes in Laguna Niguel. Drop box on counter, they asked if I wanted a receipt, I said yes, they printed one and I was out the door.

I have sent four revolvers back to S&W this year for warranty service. SW sent me a label each time which required me to use FedEx. They advised that I had to use a FedEx shipping center and notify the clerk that the package was a firearm.

I used the Costa Mesa facility and only one time had an issue. In that case, the clerk told me I could not ship because I was not an FFL. I pointed out that the label was created by an FFL and asked for a supervisor. The supervisor arrived, looked at the label and promptly educated the clerk. I walked out grinning. 😀

FTF only. I?ve never shipped anything nor would I. My only experience with shipping guns is buying them online and having them sent to my FFL.

It worked well for me, just a few months ago shipping to an FFL not on the suggested list.
The FFL only needed to contact SMG in order to be used.
I received the label for shipping, took the boxed rifle to UPS and they mailed it.
          Easy-peasy and inexpensive.

Too much hassle to sell. Hell, even ppt in person is a pain. I can't imagine shipping.

I bet private transaction in another state will still be a PITA for me should I move. Buy and keep only.

Why even tell them what is in the box? Use the shipper’s online site to pay for and print out the shipping label. Use initials for the receiving company’s name if it’s obviously a firearm related business. If the shipper asks when dropping off just tell them it’s machine parts.
