I need a hex/star wrench solution

I keep the relevant wrenches inside the pistol grip.

that is what I am going to do. I started testing each one and will separate them out. I like the magnet idea to keep them from rattling about.

Maybe someday someone will invent a business where we can just type "hex star wrench" into a smartphone app and literally thousands of good solutions will be presented, that can ship right to your door in a day or two, with just the click of a button.

Pro tip:
The folding key sets are typically held together with two big screws. Buy a 3 kit set that has metric, SAE, and Torx, take them all apart and select only the ones you need for your range bag, then assemble those ones together as a single tool.

I end up using it more to help others, but it's nice having it in case I need it.

How many hex wrenches do you have? And how much space can they take up...they're hex wrenches. I have a tall prescription pill bottle that I repurposed and there are probably 8+ hex wrenches in there. They stay contained and organized enough. And it's a pill bottle so it's pretty darn compact.

Sounds like you don't have what you need today. Hex std, hex metric, Torx, Torx security, Star, and more....

Having the proper tool at hand, meaning it fits, is more important that brand name.

With that said...Cheapo brand hexs might be of softer metal than the socket. Therefore, it's not uncommon to round
a hex thereby changing the tolerance of the tool and perhaps that is why nothing fits in the OP's story.

Going afield you're limited. But the trunk of your car that's parked just outside has lots & lots of room for spare gun tools.

∆∆∆∆ agreed on quality and wear causing tolerance differences. Most vendors are USA all the way except for the chicom tools. The truck and big 5.11 bag can hold anything, but on a line small stuff loosens up on occasion so 2 or 3 wrenches are about it.The grip idea was so obvious yet I missed it.

In fact, I'm on the hunt for a zero angle (or minimal angle) grip with plug... or preferably a plug that fits Battle Arms BAD-AGT grip... they have no plug, but i like the grip and have a few... i need to store gas block key on SFAR - and the smaller set screw hex for other adjustable gas blocks.

I was trying to avoid taking thread off topic - but now that I did, does anyone know of a plug that fits the BAD-AGT grip? Or a good minimal angle grip with storage cover?

I run BCM grips mod1 I think. Has storage.

I keep a cheapie $15 bit set (came with a case) in my range bag.

If they break or get lost, I just replace them with a new set.

You could probably rig something. Even some plucked foam would likely work with a little reshaping. I keep wrenches for my gas block, trigger and sight inside the grip along with a lens cloth, rag and OB tampon in case I get shot.
