i understand FFls need to make money also but come on its not like they have to go out there and do campaign ads to sell your gun. its not a car dealer. The usual customer base that comes and gets a gun is either a new gun buyer or someoe who already knows what they want. having some used lower priced guns is good either way you still can make money form a flat fee sale plus the 10$ DROS ( which you would do on any gun purchase anyway) and that person will feel liek they got a good deal AND you are 99% more likely to get that customer to revisit your store looking for another "good deal"
offering better customer service and best deals around. Give cards with some sort of discount on ammo or accessories if the person brings someone in to purchase a gun from them, be customer oriented instead of a d**k. KNOW your state gun laws stop spreading BS and FUD because you dont like a certain gun, dont make people wait for service ( everyone should have a number when they walk in. and get service in that way of number system. if you offer good customer service people will come back and use your shop.. you offer crap service people will go somewhere else. Weather its immediately or .eventually people get tired of being treated like crap. There are plenty of ways for FFLs to make money. Charging 25-30% of the sale price of a gun is nowhere near as much as you can make if you charged a flat fee you'll end up turning more guns over cause people will be more willing to sell at a flat fee than a 30% loss. if you're gonna lose 30% of our value you might as well take it to a pawn shop you'll get about as much for it there
and you get your money right then and there.

If he knows the serial numbers for the guns he can report them as stolen and if anyone ever tries to register them they will be flagged!

Throw it my way; FFLs have overhead and responsibilities that supersede most retail stores, 25% is not too high, 20% is normal.

If he does report them stolen and eventually does get them back how does he procede from there? Will he have to re-DROS them? Are the guns considered evidence? Just curious, I hope the OP's friend gets his property back soon.
