    Consignment gun stolen

A co-worker of mine left 2 pistols for consignment at an local gun shop. The gun shop went out of business without notifying my co-work to pick up the pistols. Now, he can't locate the owner to retrieve his pistol. He filed an report with the police dept, but it seems like they are not going to do anything. What can my co-worker do now?? Thank you!

    Which shop?
Was there any contact info on the door of the shop?
If they didn't call people or leave info on guns that were being DROS or on consignment then have him contact http://caag.state.ca.us/firearms/index.html and have him file a report.

The shop is Pro Defensive Firearms in Redland. I will pass the info to my co-worker.

A consignment gun that is not returned is NOT stolen. It is,in legal terms, loaned and not returned. If you find these people you may demand the return of your property,if it is not returned you may then consider it stolen.

Unfortunately the number has been disconnected. my co-worker actually looked up the proprietor's name in the phone book and still no luck!

Here is a link to what happened when a different FFL went out of business. ATF announced a contact number to file a claim to get their firearms back.

As I said in my earlier post, contact the local ATF office. They should have the same type of setup for the return of firearms that were at the shop. If not, ATF should be able to advise you on how to proceed.

Why are so many people who work in the gun industry such lowlifes?

A gun shop in Salinas went belly up about one year ago. The owner failed to notify the owners of approximately 100 consignment firearms in the store. He skipped town; but the police tracked him down up near Paradise. Busted...

Looong time ago I bought a HK Match (not a copy) from someone in TX (Mr. Schwartz / the Tecomate Ranch guys) and it was left with a shop to be shipped out. I had to go out of town for a month and by the time I got back the FFL (Seo Sandowal) who was to ship the gun was arrested (club Fed - some medicare scam). No trace of my gun. Filed all reports and got all the names and report numbers - no good.

And I have to wait 20 years for Seo to get out of Jail - But there are other circumstances also involved. Point being say goodbye.

Also Fred, it kinda looks like that guy on THF might have been right about getting info to noobie members, I assume you were not in fact looking to get in touch with Seo to give him best wishes, but to try and get your gun

ive met some good and some bad people. Thankfully the good professional outnumber the bad jerks. The OP is the exact reason i simply do not do consignment sales.

Consignment is a scam anyways. Come on, a 25% charge. Please, I'd rather throw it in the ocean.

                              Right.

How are FFL's supposed to stay in business, then?
