Yeah I get that, but you can buy a PCC for roughly $600 for a range toy, what?s a MP-5 go for $$$. The cost/reward ratio just seems really off, especially with the brace gone now.

Yeah, but you can't do the HK slap with a PCC. Although my Foxtrot Mike upper has a side charger and would probably work about the same as an HK if you cut a slot in the handguard.

I got one of those cheap H&K MP5/22s for my slap fixes. It’s a fun range plinker, but it also confirmed that no matter the shooting distance CQB and out. The AR platform is a much much better weapon in all aspects. And you can still do the slap, you’re just slapping the left side of your AR, instead of a charging handle on top. Full disclosure I’ve never actually tried it, but in theory.

Picked up a Hk SP5K the semi Auto version of the Mp5
Was third gun I bought when I left state awesome little pistol. Possibly one of the more fun guns I have.
I would definitely use it for more than a plinking toy.
For home defense the short, barrel , mag capacity.
The limiting factor is forearm space for light.
And price of mags and mods. Especially if one wants to stay with Hk or higher quality.

We see the Ptr in GA for $1300 to 1600 new. The quality is not the same. But it's $1000 cheaper

We used the Surefire 628 handgrip flashlight mounts on our guns. I also had a H&K cocking tube laser on mine.

Here's a link to a pic. You can still find used ones around for $300 or so.

In 1990-91 I had a chance to buy 4-5 real HK SP89 pistols for ~$750ish.
30rd mags (some Paki??) were going for ~$40 each.

                          I passed.

Kicking myself to this very day.

Bill that was a really great price. Shame you didn't jump on those.
I almost bought one at traders in SL around the same time period but it was over a grand. Decided to hold off and buy it at a later time and then poof. Banned. Prices rocketed. Took me 30 years to finally scratch that itch with the new release sp's.

Yep, the last one I saw in a California store was around 1991 at the San Francisco Gun Exchange. They wanted $850. I was this close to buying it (and man, that was a LOT of $$$ for me at the time), but ended up getting a Colt Sporter for about $650. The equivalent of that Colt costs about $1000-1200 today. If a modern HK-produced version of an actual SP89 was available here for ~$1600, I would be doing the paperwork this afternoon. Instead, I?m just about to pull the trigger on ordering a PTR 9R.
