    About MP5?s

I remembered watching a RenoMay about how he had an Ak shipped here into Ca but had to get to to he Ca compliant 1st. If I were to go through the same process and have a MP5k pistol with a fixed 10 round mag would that be potentially illegal???

Unlikely with a pistol as the roster is still in place. Even if the stay on Boland or Renna's injunctions are lifted, the roster will still remain just without the LCI, MDM or Microstamping requirements.

You'll have to get a 16" Bbl rifle version that is complaint (pending the results of Miller v. Bonta.)

Several years ago, an out-of-state vendor (07-FFL) made/sold bolt-action single-shot AK pistols for CA.

They used newly made receivers, barrels that were not drilled for a gas port, and Romanian made Draco parts kits to make the CA legal SSE2 AK pistol.
They were sold in the $1000-1200 price range.
After about a year, they were discontinued due to poor sales.

Post-2015, existing semi-auto pistols are ineligible for the single-shot pistol exemption.

A HK MP5 style pistol would require a 07-FFL to use a newly made receiver and a MP5 parts kit to make a break-open single-shot pistol or a bolt-action single-shot pistol, that has a minimum barrel length of 6" and a minimum overall length of 10.5". This would cause the resulting pistol to qualify for the single-shot pistol exemption and be considered a CA legal SSE2 pistol.

Currently, a manufacturer can submit an eligible CA legal semi-auto MP5 style pistol to be listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale.

In order to be an eligible CA legal semi-auto MP5 style pistol...
The semi-auto MP5 style pistol must operate using a fixed 10 or less round magazine, that can not be removed without disassembling the firearm's action or that is permanently attached in the firearm's magazine well, and must have a Chamber Load Indicator (CLI) and must pass CA safety testing.

Currently there is a stay on the Micro Stamping Array (MSA) requirement and semi-auto pistols with a fixed magazine do not require a Magazine Disconnect Mechanism (MDM).

No MP5 style firearm has a CLI.

HK will never submit it, and the expense is probably too high for someone like Atlantic to fork over.

We're not supposed to say anything bad about for-sale threads, right? Because if we can...

Not in the Marketplace thread itself. That would be thread crapping. But here you can…

With that said, CA-transferable MP5K’s do seem to sell well. That’s the only one that I see for sale currently.

                  Oh, right, kali.

I was going to mention how Atlantic was selling those for a thousand bucks.

Rub it in, sig, rub it in . . .

Stop that before more blue voters come to your state. When you read that people like (example deleted) starting to want to move out of CA so he can buy nice guns for cheap, it’s too late.

It's already too late. It was too late in the 80's. Half of Phoenix were L.A. rejects back then. I shudder to think of what it's like now.

I’m always surprised to see how popular MP-5’s still are. They are so 1960-1990’s, nobody really uses them anymore. When the M4 came along it pretty much made them obsolete, sure there are still some scenarios that they would be useful for. But not that many, much like all our special ops forces did when the M4 came along the MP5 got mothballed.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

Maybe because they're 9mm, same benefits as PCC's. You can shoot them indoors, ammo is cheaper, they're a lot quieter with a silencer, etc.

Most people aren't worried there's no place for a PEQ. They aren't going into battle with them.

                              Yup. Just range toys.

Bet most MP5 owners out of state already have short barrel M4 (clones, not SF)
