I haven?t been keeping up with what the cool kids are buying lately but I received an email about the SIG spear being in sale. I opened the link and thought, damn it sucks to be poor lol. $4300?? I remember when people were schiffing on the SCAR for the price around $1k less. I don?t hear any of that for the spear. Any ideas or good conspiracy theories on why there?s no complainers?

Sig spear cost vs SCAR

When was the scar ever $1,000 dollars? -

Im considering acquiring a battle rifle and the Sig MCX is on top of my list.
Im not sure if 308 or 6.5 is the way to go. As the new US military rifle, the rifle will likely take hold, and will be around for a long time. Unless, it fails miserably in the field.Last edited by Tripplet918; 06-10-2023, 12:49 PM.Comment

The Biden inflation plays a role, everything is too much now.
Haven’t priced a SCAR heavy in a long time. I bought mine about 8 years ago for $2700, that and my Wilson Combat by far the most I ever paid for a gun. For $4300 I’ll never own the Sig.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

Your story is a good example of what Ive learned in time. Quality firearms are a good investment. As much as I can build a rifle that shoots the same caliber for less, its value over the long term will pale in comparison.
Its a treat to own them, and its not foolish to do so.Comment

Sig has a large knee bending cult following.Comment

Just like the 5.7. The rounds the weapon was designed around are unavailable to civilians so why bother?Comment

Yeah, $2600-$2800 were what SCAR17s went for around 2016 when they were the most popular battle rifle. I think SCAR17s are going for around $3800 now. So about a grand more than they used to.Last edited by Tere_Hanges; 06-11-2023, 9:59 AM.CRPA and NRA member.

Price ? Don?t worry about the price - a firearm will last you decades and can save your life - so buy what you want.
Also consider parts and caliber availability and if the mfg will stand behind your product if there?s ever a problem.
Cost of ammo - is that going to keep you home instead of heading to the range.
Other than that it?s a personal choice of what you want.Vida Loca Homes
