personally, i'd rather spend the $450 on ...say reloading supplies, but Stan does bring up a good point... There are times where i would have paid another $100 or so to have that gun at that moment. If you plan on buying enough firearms in the future, why not take Stan's idea and run with it...

Haha well put it this way, at least your family have had a large sum of assets and money at a time. You are right, you can learn from their mistakes and also learn from their profits. Times are different now but you can still learn from what they did before in the past. I am sure you know all of this already mr. people watcher! LOL

Yeah I wish your mom would go and enjoy herself. She worked hard during her life to make the money why not enjoy it before it's over. Reap the fruits of your labor

I learned a lot in the past couple of years when it comes with $$$. If I knew what I know now 5-6 years ago when I was making $100K+ I would probably be in a better spot cause I would have invested into a lot of things. I now know there are different things you should always invest in to save towards the future.

I had a friendly FFL wait about 45 days for me to get three rifles I had in the pipeline together so I could DROS them at once. I'd rather save on the DROS fees and buy more ammo.

If that's what makes you happy, go for it.

As for me, I consider it helping to fund the state's budget shortfall, in a very small way. Considering all of the fees, and taxes, that this state charges, personally, I don't wish to give them one red cent more than I need to. They are already tax and fee'ing us into abject poverty. I'd rather save all that money and buy an extra Glock at ProForce, once a year, or buy more accessories, ammo and such. Heck, it's gotten better, in one respect anyway. I remember the days of the 15 day wait. While I do not believe the waiting period does any good, and it IS a nuisance, I am not that impatient, that I need to have my new gun, now. If I felt that way, ever, I'd go to a shooting range, where I could rent one, in the mean time, to shoot. It all just seems like a great deal of cost, for a minor bit of impatience. And the money goes to the politicians who want to take our guns from us. It just doesn't make sense, to me. But, whatever floats your boat, i guess.

Or you can just buy your gun from a ffl that is also a range. Most places like that will let you shoot your gun while it is in jail.

Agreed. Not a bad idea. I have enough guns at home, of various makes and models, though, that I am likely to always have something similar, so I don't feel the great anticipation, and do not give way to impatience. But, it's good advice for those who are impatient.

I had a guy who would always run a DROS every month just in case he found something. He ussually found one or two rifles on gun broker a month. Would come in pick up and start a new DROS.

Pretty much sums up the way I feel as well. Have good balance between having fun (hobbies, trips...etc.) and saving money and you can have a much better life than leaning too far either way. I know quite a few "workaholics" with lots of money with such stressful jobs and deteriorating health that it just isn't worth it.

Stan I follow the same principle in life as you do.

We only live once, and we only have a short amount of time to enjoy whatever we enjoy. As you said the clock is ticking.

I say go for it. If I had the money and I was buying rifles all the time, I would do it.

Like you said, you don't drink or smoke, or drink coffee so that more than makes up for it IMO. The petty things in life add up. Spend the money on the major things that last!

Get your C&R license and mail-order old guns to your door. Or, get your COE as well and order old guns. No 10-day wait.
