Fix a metal rod at the end of the 10 round cloth belt so it can not cycle out the gun. It can now only be removed by opening the action, top cover.

Open top cover, and replace with another 10 round belt with fixed rod.

Yes, u can insert a 100 round belt into the gun. But it is no different than inserting a 30 round mag into a fixed mag gun. Just don’t do it.

What about if you had a belt fed with no stock that was registered as a rifle????

How does a firearm without a stock get registered as a rifle?
Seems to be an error as a rifle has to have a stock.
Without a stock, a belt-fed firearm is a title 1 other firearm unless it's so small that it can be concealed upon the person and therefore considered a pistol.
Either way, it's also an illegal AW in CA if it is centerfire semi-auto firearm that is not a rifle or a pistol or a shotgun if it was not registered as an AW during the most recent registry opening for semi-auto centerfire Title 1 other firearms.

If the belt were to leave the gun while the gun is assembled, then the gun accepts a detachable magazine again.
rivet a big t-handle to one end? (or anything that has no chance of passing through the action)

A lot of those types of guns got "DROSd" as rifles because there was no option for "Other" - but that does not matter for the new "Other" AW law. What matters is the configuration. If it is configured as a Title-1 other, with defined features, it is an AW

What if the barrel was separated from the rest of the gun would it still be an ...Aw...?

There were several group buys on Calguns prior to 2014. Back then I believe there was still an ?other? category.

It would be easier to buy an A6 buttstock and call it a rifle. It?s a < five minute job to add the buttstock.

While CA issued guidance to dealers that separating an AR15 upper and lower meant it was no longer an AW, and CA does not have a constructive possession law, there is a case where a felon got convicted for constructive possession because he expressed his intent to assemble an AW.
