If limited to three calibers, which ones would you pick?

I'd have to say...
12 gauge (gotta have it)
9mm (my favorite autos are 9mm)
.308 (the M1A I have and the Rem 700 I haven't bought yet would take care of things at a distance pretty well)

Saiga S 12 (12 ga)
Saiga/AK (7.62X39)
Glock 20 (10mm)
12 ga for just about anything. The 7.62X39 is way more accurite than people give it credit for. The 10mm is my uber handgun round, shoots flat at 100 yards and has more than enough punch to take light skinned game animals at that distance. There are 3 kinds of people in this world.

The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

May have been said elsewhere, but what makes this interesting and challenging is that 3 really isn't enough. You see people trying to choose between including a shotgun (assuming we consider that a caliber) and 22lr along with a centerfire handgun & rifle caliber. Bump it to 4 and while people will still make different choices, I would guess most of us could agree on a list in this form:
12 Ga
22 LR
Your favorite centerfire handgun caliber
Your favorite centerfire rifle caliberDave

Only three. Grrrr.
12 gauge - home defense
7.62x51 - yes it costs more than the other two popular cartrideges. I'd rather shoot a little less and focus on quality shots. Also I can hunt just about anything in the lower 48.
45 ACP a side arm is a good back up to the above. I also just happen to like shooting this hand gun caliber more than the others.
22 LR - if I could have a fourth this would be it. Can hunt small game. Can use in a rifle to practice marksmanship. Could buy an adaptor for many semiautos. N fact if someone chose this as their third I don't think I would argue it. I put it fourth as it supplements what the other three would do.
FWIW - I went 15+ years with only four calibers and was quite content.I think Thor's hammer was an 45-70 lever action loaded with Garrett cartridges.
