    CA320/2A P320 swap list?

    Asking for a friend.

He's looking to get a FA CA320 but wants to have it listed on his San Bernardino Co CCW. SBSD will probably want it listed as a semiauto as they have with guns bought via SSE 1.0.

Does anyone know if someone has started list of people who would want to trade their new unfired semiauto FA CA320/2A P320?
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Will your “friend” try out the pawn shop route?

He will. That's what I told him to do in the first place. Then I started to think about it and a pistol swap is a better option.

Pawn return will cost more (interest) and take longer. I'm pretty sure that it needs to be left in pawn for a certain amount of time, not sure how long.

A pistol swap can be done minutes after the second person has their gun in hand. And in minutes I'm talking about how long it takes to remove the old grip frame and put on the new one. It's now a semiauto and ready for the the swap. Much easier and quicker if you ask me.

And, yes I am asking for a friend. I already have my P320 and P365

Does anyone know if the CA320 is actually listed as a single shot weapon by the DOJ?

Does the DOJ list round capacities for guns?

I know that if you obtain a gun via single shot exemption, that is recorded as a single shot by the DOJ, but the CA320 will be purchased as a standard roster gun. Does round count get recorded?

Does the DOJ list my S&W Shield as a 7-shot weapon?

It's not listed as a single shot pistol.

          CA320
          Manufacturer: Franklin Armory
          Model: CA320
          Handgun Type: Pistol
          Caliber: 9mmx19
          Barrel Length: 3.90"
          Materials: Stainless Steel; Polymer
          Expired Date: 01/01/2024

Nor is the Shield listed as a 7 Shot. But the dealer doing the transfer needs to fill out a bunch of info into the DROS. There's a section titled "category". It's in this section that the dealer chooses with "type" of handgun it is. They will chose semiautomatic, revolver, single shot, derringer or what ever other option that best matches what the firearm is.

In the case of the FA CA320 they will list it as a single shot. SBSD will not let you put on your permit a single shot pistol. It will need to be swapped or pawn returned as a semiauto for them to put it on your permit.

I'm not familiar with the legal term "pistol swap".
Is there some sort of legal transfer that can be done between two separate gun owners that does not require a DROS and the commensurate 10 day wait?

Because you are going to need to do a pair of PPT's to swap the serial numbered fire control modules and get an AFS entry as a semi-auto pistol and the pistols will need to be assembled as semi-auto pistols before that is done.

If by "pistol swap", you mean that each 320 owner would move their grip frame and slide assembly to the other person's FCU and then do a pair of PPT's, that's the way to do it...

Buyer A gets a FA CA320. They take off the grip frame that came with it and put on one that can accept a magazine. They put in a 10 round magazine to complete the change to semiautomatic.

Buyer B does the same thing.

Buyer A and buyer B meet at a dealer to "swap" their new semiautomatic pistols by way of doing a PPT with each other.

This way in 10 days each buyer has a brand new semiautomatic pistol that is listed that way in AFS.
