        That's right. The OP is buying a rifle from a friend. Since it's a transfer (i.e. one guy buying from another) between residents of different states it has to go through an FFL at the receiving end.

        If you're just shipping it to yourself you don't need to use an FFL.

          I have non FFL people use the BATFE FFL EZ Check. I give them the FFL #s needed and they can print out the verification online and take that to UPS. So far I have and no problems. Unless you ar a FFL a receiver can not be shipped directly to a non FFL except in some limited circumstances.
