Any idea's on what is a guns purpose ?

Technically this is a better definition of a firearm.

Guns don't always launch a projectile. Water guns, caulking guns, maybe nail guns etc.

started out throwing rocks then pointy sticks then back to throwing rocks with a sling then throwing sticks with a atlatl then we connected a rock to a stick and launched it with a bow

Gun's purpose is to deliver serious violence up to and including death. The purpose of being capable of serious violence, but choosing not to unleash it unless necessary, is being able to enforce a peaceful life.

And guns are also fun to shoot simply because "pew pew."
