I've got more that I've never shot, than most people have in their complete collection.

Also, the older you get, the less - at least speaking for myself - that I shoot.

Use to shoot at least once a month in the 80/90's.

      Not anymore.

I have some C&Rs I haven’t shot yet but I might get around to them one day.

I have oodles of 54r so might be spending more time with my Mosins, PU, and PSL as I can use my stash and not feel the sting of inflation.

          I have noticed this too.

Guns aren't any different than anything else that attract collectors, possession obsession and so on. Many gun owners think for some reason lots of things about owning them is unique to guns, not true.

People buy watches they'll never wear, shoes they'll never put on, cars they'll never drive and save money they'll never spend. Why should guns be any different?

Be thankful there are those who buy guns and don't use them because that creates opportunity for others one day, to own them as if new.

The kid that dreams of owning a 45 because his Dad had one and after being able to afford one comes across a safe queen Series 70 Colt, never fired; the one who had a gun, sold it because they lost their job and got back on their feet and finds one, unfired and just like they had; the one who has lots of guns, never fired who then later in life, knowing they can't go with him, sells them at their original cost to someone else.

All kinds of reasons. You don't need to understand it.

            .
Let Go of the Status Quo!

Don't worry, it will never pass...How in the hell did that pass?

Think past your gun, it's the last resort, the first is your brain.

Defense is a losing proposition when time is on the side of the opponent. In the history of humanity, no defense has ever won against an enemy with time on their side.

Either because of the Cosmoline or because they were cheap novelty purchases.

Others maybe impulse and later regret buys.
A friend gave me a Soviet SKS and a bunch of ammo that he bought in the 90s and never shot. I cleaned it for him a couple time over the years and he finally just gave it to me as he wasn't interested in it.

I shoot more now that I'm semi retired and have a range that is essentially empty during the week. I go about 2x a month which is more than I used to when I worked all week and had kids at home.

I've had guns I've bought and never shot and sold.
Then I've got guns I've bought and still haven't shot.
I had my Colt M4 for over a year before I took it to the range and sighted in.

I can easily see how one would buy a gun and have it for some time before shooting or selling it.

I simply don't understand someone buying a firearm and hasn't shot it, how do you know it even functions properly. I've had a few that looked sweet but were lemon's when it came to function.
                    My peace...
Personally, over the years I have purchased several new handguns on a whim, only to realize (before even firing them) that they weren't really for me. Makes perfect sense to me to find a home for them here in the marketplace, rather than have them sit unused in my safe. I don't agree with the "only buy never sell" idea.

Some guns you would just rather have as collection pieces, it is really up to you whether you wanna shoot them or not, I think I have like 1 or 2 that I will never shoot just because of how gorgeous they are to look at.

I make a point of shooting everything I buy the same day I buy it...sometimes I do have to wait until next day. Some of my guns are safe queens in that I don't shoot them often, but they all get shot at least once a year with a few hundred rounds. I also never have more than one of the same model, I see guys with rifles that all look the same, or guys with lots of 1911's, or other guns that are all the same. I do understand minor variations in the same model, etc but they look the same. I have one of each and each has been shot. My only exception to that rule is I do have a 4 3/4 Colt SAA and a 5 1/2 because the 5 1/2 is a real Colt, the other is a clone.

Story of my life, OP haha!!

Firearms and stripped receivers piled up and unfired. Some have sat for over 10 years.

Just how it goes. Eventually I get tired of tripping over them and sell them. Then promptly buy more to trip over, haha!!
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.

also the more you guns you own, sometimes it's hard to get to them all. I'm not hauling a dozen rifles to the range. And it's expensive so I don't go as much as I'd like. So if I am only bringing 2 or 3 each trip, some are going to get neglected. Ammo is an issue too, of course. I own a firearm in which I have never owned any ammo in that caliber. Travesty I know. Though I also have several hundred rounds in two different calibers that I've never owned a firearm for, so it evens out

I’ve had a few I’ve never shot.. and sold several I’ve never shot. I’ve also never sold a gun I didn’t at least double my money on. I have others that go to the range about every time I go out.

With me, it's ammo. I've got all of this ammo I've never shot, yet.
