I just don't understand!

It blows me away how many firearm's I see getting sold here or trying to that was never shot, I don't get that.
"Bought it years ago and just been sitting in the safe ever since", why?
I simply don't understand someone buying a firearm and hasn't shot it, how do you know it even functions properly. I've had a few that looked sweet but were lemon's when it came to function.

some people have lots of guns and safe queens aren't uncommon.
personally, i don't buy guns to store them.
i even shoot my 1/200 limited edition scar 20s.

I have a Benelli M2 shotgun I've owned for a few years and never shot. I have a whole lot of others that I haven't shot in years.

One can never have too many firearms.

I normally shoot what I bought right away, after a clean & lube at home. Usually the next day.
Most recent purchase was a bolt gun. Cleaned & lubed. Mounted scope, bipod, monopod. Nice Plano case. 220 rounds of match ammo. Dies, bullets, powder (no primers yet). Cleaning rod, bore guide, brush, jag, boresnake.
Two months and haven't a round yet.
But I do intend to.
I also intend to never sell it.

Probably most Chinese SKSs, AKs, 1911s, Makarovs, et al purchased at the 80s Great Western have never been used by the buyer.
Either because of the Cosmoline or because they were cheap novelty purchases.

Others maybe impulse and later regret buys.

I have often wondered the same thing, but I'll add modifications to the question. It doesn't seem logical to mod a firearm that you've never fired, much less don't shoot it even after you've modded it.

Different strokes, I guess. To me, there is something very pleasing about a great looking tool that is also effective.

Probably lots of SQ from the last 2 years. Panic buy and no ammo. Only one I don't think I can get to 1000 rds any time soon is my flintlock.

I have a lot of guns that I have never shot. I bug a gun with the idea I will use it for this or that. It ends up in the safe than I am in a gun store and boom buy another one.

Some of us I guess just like the look and feel of some guns without shooting them.

I've shot maybe 20% of my guns. I try to buy with built in equity and then, of course, the values increase over the years. Think of it as a 401K

I have many guns I have never fired.

46 G/K43 rifles. Fired maybe 3 of them.



Same with many of my others.

Can't expect everyone to think or be the same as you.

Things have changed in life. At my previous house, I would do at least a mag dump the moment I got home.
My wife passed a few years ago, so I sold our big house and moved into town. Now, shooting takes effort and forethought.

People don't realize the large number of gun owners who never shoot their guns or shoit maybe twice a year. I've known collectors similar to a couple of the previous posters who are always, buying, selling, trading but never shoot. Most are people with just a couple of guns or even just one that do the same. It's a small percentage out of everyone who owns a gun that shoot regularly even once a month let alone multiple times per month.
