    Read:

"Excellent. Seller texted me on 10-11-22 asking to cancel as his mom was rushed to the ER and he wanted to stay with her. Yup, not a problem. Asked that he let me know when would be good to do the deal; said he would. "

Seller said he would do something and did not. The cancel reads and appears to be intended as a delay, not a complete cancellation of the deal. Had the seller wanted to just cancel there was no need to bring his mom into the exchange. Its obvious the mom emergency was brought up as the reason they couldn't make it that day/time and when seller said they'd advise when the deal could proceed, they affirmed that to buyer.

When the buyer asked the seller to advise buyer when the deal could proceed, it was at that time seller had the opportunity to say the deal was off entirely and no further arrangements would be forthcoming. Seller didn't do that but strung the buyer along.

Fearing retaliation simply rewards the seller for poor behavior.

The OP did go to some extraordinary lengths to communicate when it was obvious to most that seller was no longer interested but by the same token, had the buyer tossed the interest and then seller can along and said the deal was good to go, the reverse situation might be the discussion and buyer would be the bad guy.

Let Go of the Status Quo!

Don't worry, it will never pass...How in the hell did that pass?

Think past your gun, it's the last resort, the first is your brain.

Defense is a losing proposition when time is on the side of the opponent. In the history of humanity, no defense has ever won against an enemy with time on their side.

The usual flakes. Forget that a person is a CG member and deal with them as you would with any other online purchase. When family and medical emergencies start popping up, it's time to move on. Sure it can happen, but an honest person will go out of his way to communicate and make sure the buyer isn't left hanging.

When it feels off or strange, it's because it is. Maybe you can make it happen, but it's usually not worth it.

Light him up. It's helpful to let others know that he is a flake.

Dude was a flake and you should have realized that after the first ignored text.
He got cold feet or offered more. Total loser move by him but no sense chasing the guy around.

I used to get upset about all this stuff people listing stuff really cheap then ghosting, people making arrangements to buy stuff then ghosting etc. but then I realized we’re all human and I’ve done it as well

Yep. I got ghosted on a cheap CZ PCR recently lol.
No big deal, price was too good to be true, so i was expecting it, sure enought the day before, the seller had "a family emergency, gotta fly out of town, sorry..." and could no longer meet for the scheduled time and place. Ghosted after that. Interestingly enough the dude got an iTrader rating for a PPT the same weekend. LOL.

                  +1

No feedback of any kind is warranted. The OP didn't lose anything tangible, except their time, and that was the OP's decision, not the seller.
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.

Neutral rating as you did not lose money or goods. Out the seller and report to Mods. He takes that seriously.

Neutral is good enough; I would want to know to buy with caution with a guy like this.

You did the right thing. I would do anything not to get a negative review, just saying.

Years ago (following some mass shooting incident) when ARs were selling for 2x-3x what they should have been (due to more ban concerns) and PMAGs were selling for ~$100/ea and no one had stock, I found a guy selling an AR that also included a handful of PMAGS. The "other" stuff is what made the deal somewhat justifiable (at least to me and my wallet).

Fast forward to PPT day. He walks in with just the AR. I ask where are the PMAGS? "Oh, I sold those to my brother...". Ummm, okay. Mind you, we had been in regular email contact (sending pics, confirming day/time meet, etc.).

So I ask, okay, what's the new price? "Same price". So let me make sure I understand correctly. We had an agreement on price, items and meeting. You sell part of the package to your bro, don't bother to let me know (if I still was interested) and then show up with only the AR and expect to sell at the same price? Yup.

He was quite butt hurt (and truly didn't see any problems or concerns with his modification of our deal and selling off part of what I agreed to buy) when I said thanks but no thanks and left the LGS in a huff.

Always amazes me when sellers flake, think they have the upper hand or do stupid stuff they don't think will be an issue for the buyer. But, at the end of the day $ talks and if you let goober sellers get away with doing shady things, they will continue.

I didn't leave negative feedback, just chalked it up to people will be people. I was only out my time and level of disappointment. In the big picture, not worth losing sleep over, just an interesting/memorable experience now.

You didn't even leave the house to meet up at a LGS, so you've spent more time/energy/thinking on the neg feedback issue than it's worth IMO. I believe in Karma and people who do stuff like this will only have it come back to them in some way or another.

                          Live life, move on.
