I use my Jeep at Pala, easy to get out there to place targets. Past 500 yards it narrows and turns up the hill on the right side. I've never hiked up there to paint the steel. They will provide the paint there for you if you want to go up that hill. You better walk quickly, breaks are for about 10 minutes.

BLM in Borrego has flats that can go to 1000 yards. Pick a quiet morning or you may be dodging bullets going out that far.
