Unless you're a numb skull you're forced to be courteous, the cop not so much. How are you going to ruin the cop's day?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The rental company seems to owe you at least that (the 200.00). Great story, though."Over-sentimentality, over-softness, in fact washiness and mushiness are the great dangers of this age and of this people. Unless we keep the barbarian virtue, gaining the civilized ones will be of little avail." - Theodore Roosevelt
Would you people please stop bashing "Elmer Fudd?" After all, he was an avid sportsman, hunter, and 2a supporter. -Ed in SacComment

Good story, thanks for sharing. We have a long way to go getting our rights back here in the occupied zoneComment

By being courteous you you show the LEO that you espect the job they do! While Chickenfried is correct in that it is difficult to ruin LEO day you can certainly ruin your own day with a citation!

I've heard that presenting a Texas CHL during a traffic stop is nearly as good as being the cop's brother to avoid getting a ticket.
I love the difference in attitude between CA and states like TX and FL. Respect is so refreshing.Originally posted by Deadbolt"We're here to take your land for your safety"

I have been fortunate enough to travel all over our wonderful country. My wife and I are both teachers so we have summers off and travel extensively! I have carried in many states while traveling and the attitude towards citizens who ccw is much different in most states other then California!
I go to Arizona three times a year and there you can open carry without a permit and no one even notices. This past March I was in Scottsdale, Arizona where we go every year for spring break.
We like to go to spring training games for baseball. While their I was eating at a Subway with my kids and open carrying at the time. Not only did the employees of the store not say a word or seem to care but three Phoenix LEO walked in to eat.
I was sitting and eating. Strong side was showing and all of the officers engaged me in a friendly conversation about firearms. Not one of them was even slightly concerened at my open carrying.
No one cares about it! That is the way it should be. I may as well have been open carrying a cell phone on my hip as the reaction was the same!
California needs to grow up and realize that firearms carried by law abiding citizens are no more a threat to the general public then carrying a cell phone. Most other states treat it as a non-issue.
It is part of their culture and no one cares! This is how it should be. This irrational fear that persists in California that anyone who owns a firearm must be a mass murderer is sickining and disgusting!
We are portrayed as red neck lunitics waiting to victimize anyone we can! What is wrong with this sick state? I have traveled to Texas and ccw their as well!
Same reaction! No one cares. There are signs up in stores, restaurants, etc. stating that you can or can not carry there. As long as you obey their laws and rules again, no one cares that you are carrying!Last edited by Big Jake; 07-23-2009, 12:08 PM."Life Is Hard. It's Harder When You're Stupid"-John Wayne!
