    Raahauges Shooting Range

Until today, I hadn't' been to Raahauges since Norco Run and Gun quit sponsoring matches there. Much to my surprise, I was told that you need a cell phone to fill out their waiver or I couldn't shoot. I was also told that all the paper waiver presented a fire hazard. This is as ludicrous as everything else going on with this woke state. I didn't bother to tell her that all the paper targets and cardboard backers that they SELL were also flammable. But what truly concerns me it that they want you to scan their safety waiver bar code as well as provide email and home address. What am I actually doing by scanning this barcode ? What is being installed onto my phone ? What is being extracted ? Where is my info going ? By expressing my concern, I was nearly removed from the premisses by the raving loon behind the counter , who later said that she was actually messing with me. Why I asked. I drove 35 miles to get here and it's 8am. WTF ?

“I was also told that all the paper waiver presented a fire hazard”

Hard to believe this was actually said in earnest

When they close up how far will you have to drive to shoot?

Hmm, use paper to conserve electricity used by the phone, the electricity this state desperately needs to charge all the mandated electric cars, or use phone to conserve paper that is a fire hazard, something this states desperately tries to avoid, never mind that the state doesn't clear brush or dead trees to prevent fires...

The method of storage might be required by their lease or insurance. Its not the same place it was say even 10 years ago. A lot of people moved to the area so there is more scrutiny on the operation. Trust me, I enjoyed my time there 2005-2013 ish when a membership or red key got you the run of the place sunup to sundown open or closed. It was great times and Mike and Pat were freaking mens men and the hospitality was unmatched. But that was also when that area was just a swamp surrounded by farms and storage yards not a bunch of pansy homeowners. It is still the best place to shoot outdoors in the area and the operations have to be pretty tight with all the crybabies constantly putting it under scrutiny. Im glad they are finding a way to keep it open.

It sounds like a marketing ploy to me. Gotta make one wonder if the DOJ is receiving any of that

They had a fire there about 5-6 years ago, that did quite a bit of damage. My son is a firefighter in a neighboring city, who was sent there as mutual aid. I guess the stored ammunition was popping off and kept everyone on their toes.
Maybe the no paper rule is coming from their insurance company.
                        Then said He unto them...
"and he that hath no 1911 designed by my servant John Moses Browning,
let him sell his garment and buy one."
And they said, "Lord, behold, here are two Glocks."
And He said unto them, "Meh, it's a good start."

                        Luke 22:36-38 (somewhat paraphrased)

Then they should have a "no ammunition" policy. Seems like ammo was the problem, not the paper.

On a serious note, requiring electronic liability release forms should not be a big deal, especially since liability cannot be really written off by a contract to begin with. I've seen much worse policies, some somewhat justified, some completely ridiculous (cough, EFG, cough).

Exactly. One can always go somewhere else.

This is why I shoot out in the middle of the desert. And also gave up on my LAX Range membership...
