Also, judging from the pics on the site, each filter comes with a end cap that screws onto the end opposite of the other threaded end... The cap is solid (no hole), but dimpled in the center, presumably for a drill bit.

I don't see how anybody could possibly be charged with anything illegal until that end cap was drilled through.

But I am no expert on fuel filters, or the law.

AFT makes up any laws it wants. Years ago they claimed that marking where something is supposed to be drilled or cut is the same as it being already drilled or cut. It's absurd clown world BS.

In a fair court given the recent SCOTUS ruling on regulation vs lawmaking, the above BS should be invalidated.

Ah so pled out before trial, so likely would have lost if it went to trial. I can’t imagine this **** would be ok in court simply because wording. Kind of like flash hiders here, even if it doesn’t mention flash hiding capability, supposedly if it can be proven that it suppresses flash then it would be illegal.

Some of those solvent traps looks just like a sound suppressor when disassembled, with baffles and holes through the end caps, although materials are not high quality. Whether it works for only one shot or more didn't matter to the court.

If there is no hole in the end cap, you may have a argument that it cannot be used as a suppressor.

In the law, each part of a suppressor is regulated (the only NFA item so spelled out), so that would be a tough challenge if you had everything bar an end cap with a hole.

A fuel filter needs a hole in each end or fuel will not flow. You can't call everything with 2 holes a silencer, especially if it's not written law. You can't have a regulation that everything with 2 holes is a silencer either. In the past AFT has been able to intimidate judges and juries with "We say it is, so it is". With SCOTUS putting the kibosh on such shenanigans, maybe no longer.

Shooting it was like shooting a 22 short in recoil and the report was not loud at all even with supersonic ammunition.

Just Kiester the fuel filter.. make them search for it and earn their pay check!!! You can always say you have gas and trying to be quiet and filter the smell.
