That's a neat idea in concept, but holy hell do those things draw a ton of current. Your battery would be completely dead in no time, and then, aside from being stranded, you've got an unlocked compartment. Maybe use the magnet side to draw a spring loaded pin or something.

The other potential issue I see with a built in cabinet type solution is, does being a part of the vehicle then make it a "utility compartment"? I'm no lawyer, but it would seem to me that it might be, and thus you'd have to keep your gun in a locked container inside your cabinet. There goes your quick access, but I'd still rather have that solution than to go around unarmed.

I just got a flux raider. Minimal foot print. Put that in a bigger pistol biometric safe with thick cable and it’d be legal and ready to deploy.

KelTec Sub 2000

Sticking with a 9mm, a folded KelTec Sub 2K is pretty small and could take the same rounds as your pistol. Folded, unloaded in a bag, secured with a cable under your seat could work. Loaded mags could be in the console, or a pocket on the front of the bag (just not in the rifle).

You could probably have a separate thread on what is considered the best "truck gun". The majority, I believe, would say that it needs to be a long gun. Beyond that you'll probably get a thousand different opinions.

Agreed. Light easy to handle and not a scary looking black colored rifle.

For me it depends. There is a strong argument for a short shotgun be it bullpup or minimal stock.
