Body Armor for Civilians?

I have a friend that ordered one from BulletProofMe, it is a good company to deal with, they offer there own line and a police surplus line that you can get for cheap. And it works just fine. Make sure you get a good undershirt!


Just a thought if you find brick and motor stores giving you a ruff time.

Thanks guys! I had checked out Bulletproof me awhile back and really like their selection and actual tests they did with their vests. I also do like how their vests seem much more concealable than the rest of the others out there. I really want to get a quality vest that will last a long time, so I'll probably choose something with Gold Flex, as it is not affected by water and heat as much as Kevlar. I figured that my armor will keep with the same principle as my guns - never buy too cheap, as you are depending on it to hopefully function perfectly when needed.

I looked at several undershirts and there are some 511 and Under Armor ones that look really great. I would think that a normal Hanes white/black cotton T-shirt wouldn't work as efficiently, so I'll definitely order a few pairs to see which of them I like.

Thanks again for all of your comments, I'll keep you guys updated on which vest I will get. I am so far debating over the Point Blank Vision III-A and BulletProofMe vests.

Just a heads up, I saw somebody mention one time here that there is a CA law that makes any misdemeanor into a felony when the person is wearing body armor. I'm not saying your out there committing crimes but its something to consider.

It was originally to discourage criminals from wearing armor like the north hollywood guys, but it could complicate things. Maybe some traffic violations are misdemeanors or there is a confusing altercation somewhere and you catch a misdemeanor. I know it sounds bad but it happens, I've had friends get in trouble with the law from just being at the wrong place at the wrong time in a confusing context. Again just something I thought I should at least mention so u can look into it if u want.

I had no idea that armor would boost up a misdemeanor, I'm going to call a few LEO friends and see if they can find the specific PC for it. I trust your judgment, but I'm one of those guys that need to see it in writing to believe it, I hope you do not take offense. I wouldn't think that a simple non-weapon could actually do that!
