Because bad guys in the Movies and TV have suppressors and the suppressors make the gun silent.
    So therefore suppressors are bad.

Silent TV and Movie suppressors are not real of course since Suppressors don't actually make a gun nearly silent, but reality is not a required part of the lawmaking system.

There are several ways to mount suppressors that don't require threaded barrel.

        Why are silencers NFA nationally?
        Same logic?

They assume you’re going to kill somebody and don’t want those in the next room to hear?

You assume, makes an assss out of you and me

          All this assumption about suppressors...

The reality is, the sharp threads could cause a cut to your finger, or a sliver, which could lead to blood poisoning, gangrene, and death.

The second you get one you instantly cannot fight the instinct to be an assassin or mob hitman. You are helpless against their power over you!!!!

So if one welds a silencer on they should be good to go.

Really, if you peel away all the layers, the liberals are only allowing firearms for the sake of them to be used to kill people.

It's very difficult and expensive to build up competition race guns.

Nunchucks became illegal in 1974 when all those martial arts movies came out and the politicians got worried that Chinese people with exotic weapons would take over the streets.
But remember that Bruce Lee killed Chuck Norris with nunchucks. Politicians don't live in the real world and they believe everything they see on TV and movies is real and you're not going to change their irrational thoughts with your facts.

Someone saw James Bond screw on a silencer and it scared them. If the barrels weren't threaded assassin's couldn't kill people.

There are all these stories about criminals on electric bicycles you can't hear who come upon unsuspecting victims and they steal purses, backpacks, clothing, or whatever. Silence lets you get away with a lot of stuff, I guess...and we can't have that, well, except for criminals on vehicles with electric propulsion.

                        Ahhhh, California.

There IS a rational - the anti firearm activists that write these laws for the likes of Senator Feinstein when they had to come up with a way to define 'assault weapons'. They tried the 'ar 15 type' / 'ak47 style' angle but it failed, 'unconstitutionally vague' was the term I remember. They also tried to ban them using specific brand / model identification but that failed too.

So their 'plan b' went the route of identifying 'assault weapons' by using cosmetic identifiers that were/are common to the firearms they want to ban such as :

                            1) threaded barrel
                            2) bayonet mount
                            3) grenade launcher [never mind that it's just a tube, the controlled item is the grenade which is TIGHTLY controlled by the batf
                            4) adjustable stocks
                            5) other easily changed options which make no difference to the overall operation of the firearm.

Has this done ANYTHING to stop people from procuring these firearms? No, not here in California, not in New York, and not anywhere else that it's been tried. Sure NY and some other east coast 'worker's paradises' have specifically banned them [probably unconstitutionally] but compliance it pathetically low, between 0 and 15% [at best] so there's that too..

For most of y'all this is old news but for some here it's useful to review what some of us 'old timers' remember during the 'discussion' of the 1994 assault weapon bill and the great many other times this issue has come up in the past...and will come up in the future.

turn temp up slow.... frog does not jump out of water

Threaded really only impacts competition shoots... small group of shooters... hunters wont defend threaded barrels on hand guns... so easy group to discriminate against

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Anyone know why the industry doesn't just get away from threaded barrels, and go for a lug design instead? HK uses a 3 lug design, for example.
