Sounds like OP clarified circumstances of how the bb came to be on the rifles and the lack of features. AR15 Barrels said it, should be good to go with removing bb.

I could also envision a lazy ffl or seller with old stock creating a featureless rifle but not wanting the expense or effort of swapping out bb.

The OP has been around here for a very long time. I remember seeing his posts & threads when I was new here. I think someone else is using his account. Or, he was recently struck in the head hard enough to cause amnesia. Just my opinion.
