Never owned one, Never will. Hate the way it feels, hate the fact it doesn't handle reloads very well. My Canik's on the other hand are GTG

You really ought to figure out a way to get that dog into a holster and carry it around concealed under a hoodie.The Toyota Camry of handguns. Top seller, but it's a Glock. Have you shot a Glock? Most people like them, a few hate them with a vengeance. If you want what most other people consider a good handgun, get it.
I have a Glock, it's alright. It always goes bang and I can hit stuff with it so in that view, it's good. It's ugly and the trigger on my Gen 3 sucks but the Gen 5 is better or you can always put in a better trigger. Don't
let your dog get a hold of it ;-)

5 inch full size guns are going extinct. all of the recent m&p full size offerings are sub 5 inches, the glock 45 is 4 inches. the sight radius difference between 4 and 5 inches is minimal, and non existent if using a red dot. the velocity issue is also not significant as 4 inches is adequate in providing proper expansion. in terms of balance, 4 inch guns are more agile, feel more balanced. at the current rate of size and ergonomic optimization, miniaturization, and ammo development, i believe 3 inch guns with full size grips will be the new duty standard in the near future:

If you live out of state, I don't see a problem with the G5's.
If you're here in CA - I don't see the advantage of paying a high price over getting a G3 and a case of ammo -
The marksman barrel is only going to give you millimeters in accuracy over a G3 barrel, the reliability is going to be the same, and as to the trigger - yes I've heard G5 triggers are an improvement over the G3 - but it's still a Glock trigger, finger groves can also be removed - as it's not that big of an issue .
With all the accessories / custom work available to the Glocks - all your going to get paying $500 to 1,000 more ( over a G3. ) Is minor details in operation.
If the G5 were available in CA - sure I'd buy them, but I wouldn't pay the markup prices for off roster guns when we are only looking at minor improvements.
That's my take, and if you feel you need a whatever - go ahead and buy it - no matter what - a quality firearm will last you decades if you maintain it. Good luckVida Loca Homes

i would add that if you can get a glock 17, go for that instead. a glock 17 can be modified to accept a g 19 or g 26 length slide. and as society careens ever edgeward towards the chasm of lawlessness and civic chaos, it is now commonly assumed that every other person is carrying a weapon for defensive purposes. the worry is no longer can other people know i'm carrying, that is a foregone conclusion. rather we are trending towards the mindset of how one can maximize the attributes of their carry gun to ensure the bets chance of survival.
what the full size frame offers: highest inbuilt magazine capacity with no adapter sleeves or pinching concerns. the best grip possible with enough margin of error when drawing or repositioning the gun. more handle=more contact points and less dead space in your grip. better shooting and handling experience leads to more training.
what a short slide and barrel offers: higher agility due to weight distributed rearward where your grip is, faster to acquire target, change direction, etc due to less weight near the front. less reciprocating mass means faster cycling and often smoother operation.
this is a g19/26, but a g17/26 would be even better imo:

The " reason " Glocks as you say - don't handle reloads well - is because of the polygonal rifling, which forms a tighter deal on the bullet when fired which also adds to a little more velocity.
That's if you're talking lead reloads - regular reloads that are made to OEM standards shouldn't be a problem.Vida Loca HomesComment

I like the Glock 17 overall than the Glock 19, I carried a 17 when I lived in AZ .
In this forsaken land ( ca ) the Glock 19 just conceals better for me, and offers a good enough grip that I'm comfortable with it.
The OP lives in a free state and a Glock 19 with 16 in the pistol and a 17 mag reload should handle just about anything with 33 total rounds.
Carry two G17 mags and 16 in the G19 that's 50 rounds, should be enough..Vida Loca HomesComment

The Glock was made for the 9mm round, and the Glock 17 is the flagship pistol, aside from that the G45 ( free state ) , Glock 19 are very popular.
Other models I own are the Glock 21 (45 acp ) and Glock 30 - although these are the large Frame pistols - so check jowls they feel before purchasing.
The Glock 20 in 10mm is also popular , but is also a large frame pistol so saa ^..
Either way I started with a Glock 17 and had no regrets - Then bought the 19, 21,20.
