    Firearm storage while on vacation

What are some options in this scenario given the following:

    Apartment building
    Extended vacation
    Questionable neighborhood
    No safe

Hand them off to a trusted friend? I only kept my bedside XD9/TLR1 when our house flooded and we had to be in an apartment for approx. 6 months. Cop buddy made room in one of his safes.

Total blessing as my collection isn’t extensive but they’re all meaningful to me.

Question: How many are we talking about? If it’s more than a few, i’d say it’s probably time for a safe, just to protect your investment.

I have a very small house, and can’t afford the space a large safe requires. So, i have 4 smaller safes, a couple of which are hidden by design.

Buy a safe / cabinet and put in bedroom, get locks for your bedroom door, lock all your stuff into the cabinet and lock bedroom door.

Get trusted friend to get your mail and check up on your place, but don’t give the em access to your room.

Buy cameras for the interior of your place. Get alarm like simply safe.

Don’t post on social media you are away and post your vacay pics when you get back

Buy a gym locker. Gut it (to fit long guns), bolt it to wall studs, lock it and if compromised, your renter's insurance should cover loss.

It should not attract undue attention. Tres Chic apartment dweller furnishings.

Don't lock it with a cheap combo padlock.

Helped my friends "beef up" an inexpensive Stack-on safe by lag bolting to wall studs inside a closet then put a big eye bolt inside that they ran a heavy bike lock cable through all the receivers and locked. Figured in the closet it would slow down any pry bar attack and then the cable lock should add an additional layer of security.

Save your money and instead of vacationing somewhere put it towards getting a better place.

Handing off your guns to a trusted friend is illegal unless you do the proper paperwork. Do you trust all the friends your trusted friend has and all the trusted friends they have?

Guy is in an apartment. Whomever gets in knows he's gone and they have all day long to get his guns.

Put your guns in cheap stack-on cabinet. Put cabinet inside closet. Remove handles to closet. Buy multiple drywalls. Put drywalls over the wall your closet door is on. Paint, decorate, and hope for best. Oh make sure to lock the closet door before putting drywalls by hammering nails the closet door to original wall.

If you really have to go:

                  Have a bathtub?

Wrap up guns. Guns in tub. Broken glass and crumbled up sheet rock over guns filled to almost top of tub. Paint primer on bathroom walls. Tape X on bathroom window.

Anyone getting in isn't going to dig through broken glass and crumbled up sheetrock that fills the tub. Anyone getting in will find some cheap gun locker and take their time getting it open.

                    This thread is ridiculous!

How many guns are we talking about Longguns or pistols?

You can buy a decent and inexpensive safe for under $200. I recommend going larger though because you’ll probably grow out of your small safe sooner rather than later. Hide it somewhere in your house and then bolt it to the floor. You can also install internet cameras in your house for fairly cheap. That way you can be notified if someone has broken into your house. If you can afford it, you can also get a home alarm/monitoring service.

Doing the things mentioned above will deter most thieves, but unfortunately not all. Basically if someone wants your stuff and you’re not there to stop them, they’ll find a way to get it.

Ummmm is this a serious question? No one knows I own guns. No one saw my expensive , massive Safe being delivered and bolted down. Nor the hidden cameras etc.

                          WTF are you really asking?

Where do live and when is your next vacation? I'm planning my next outing

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

You can't afford a safe or to live in a better neighborhood but can afford vacations??? Buy a safe.

You can't bolt down a safe in an apartment. So a heavy safe. Is expensive. For a few guns, I like the pawning idea.
