    .30 carbine Upper for AR15

My college buddy and I made a .30 carbine upper. We are still tweaking the extractor to accommodate brass, steel, Mil-surp. Etc. Types of ammunition.

We created a steel insert for an ASC AR magazine.

How much interest is there out here for something like that?

In a nutshell, a set comprising of a .30 carbine upper and 10 round .30 carbine AR magazine.

Probably not much given the current costs and availability of .30 Carbine ammo, compared to 5.56.

Like a 357 magnum AR? I like the concept.

Your R&D may lead you to branch off to other designs that the shooting public would buy.

      See what they did here...

Now imagine a 45LC version. Hmmm? Short range pig swatter?

Carry on and maybe post your progress if possible.

        Dibs!
I'm interested; I sold my last M1 Carbine, but still have lots of ammo, brass and reloading dies.
An AR15 upper for .30 Carbine would rock.

Did you chamber a .30 barrel blank or did you find a finished barrel somewhere?

Not super familiar with the 30 cal round but what would be the advantage over running 300 bo?

If you wanted to shoot a 110g bullet at 1800fps from an AR, I go with a 350Legend or a 357sig upper. And with the 357sig you could have pistol using the same caliber and mags. For a reloader uncommon ammo costs no more to load than the common ammos and at much less cost than uncommon commercial ammo.

The only advantage would be if you had a bunch of 30 carbine ammo to use up and no 30 carbine gun to shoot it in.
300 blackout will do everything that a 30carbine does if you slow the blackout down a bunch.
The 30 carbine is a wimpy 300 blackout.

^ that first part sums up my thinking.

Since 30 carbine isn’t cheap or available in mass as the first replies mentioned, I seriously see no point to an upper for it.

It has been done before. It used carbine mags if I remember right.

I would do a 30 carbine simply as a fun plinking platform. If the upper was reasonable price point I would buy one.

You typically glue a carbine mag inside of an old AR-15 mag body with worn out feedlips that you cut away to let the steel carbine mag feed lips stick up to the proper feeding height.

Don’t forget the bayonet mount for 30 carbine upper. You might need to use the rifle as a spear to finish off whatever you are shooting at

If I had a bunch of 30 Carbine ammo and no M1 Carbine, think I would just get a 30 carbine Ruger Blackhawk.

300 Blackout is the way to go with AR.

There was a custom order item some years back where they sold 7.62x25 uppers with a grip of converted ppsh 35 round mags. At that time I said to myself “why can’t someone do this with .30 carbine”. Conversely, I’d want a mag wel block like the colt pattern 9mm ar’s to use normal m1 mags
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.
