My Ruger LCP Max has the beauty and charm of a $5 cap gun but it works every single time the trigger is pulled. My Colt Officers Model custom shop .45 stays in the safe where it is, well, safe.

I like holster wear on my firearms, and scratches on my pickup.

My favorite 1911 shows holster wear and I love it the way I love the oily mark from the shifter on my favorite riding boots or the patina on the bone handle of my grandfather's knife.

Buy a holster that will not retain sweat and just oil you're gun from time to time.

Guns are not supposed to " have souls " or look pretty, they're supposed to protect your life or bring joy to your shooting practice.

If a 3,000 + dollar firearm saved your life or a family members - then it has done it's job.

Also, I love my Glocks because they work and go bang with regularity, I know you may have sentimental feelings about you're guns or tools or whatever - but use what you have and live life well.

You did buy that weapon to shoot right, well if it is a reliable weapon that shoots when you need it, you should probably be carrying that gun..

My 1970s Commander built by A. Capone at King's Gunworks has been retired, but it was my CCW for years as well as the gun I won Class A at my local club a couple years running.

                Holster wear? Who cares....

Your carry gun (or guns) is a tool. It has a purpose just like a hammer is a tool and has a purpose. When used/carried and cared for properly, it will have some wear.

Carry something you can afford, shoot accurate/safe and is comfortable for you. Holster wear and other wear marks are part of the equation.

If the blue finish is quality this wear take a long time to show up.

I always noticed wear from the thang having too much movement while holstered.
There's "that guy" that practices his tac operator level drawing his piece 100 times a day to try and shave a second off his times. Preemie wear.

*buy a edc holster that fits with minimal movement when secured/snapped/bridled.
You can tighten up a kydex holster easier than a leather one.
*rusty gun syndrome seems to be a bigger problem for most edc guns. not finish wear.

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

I mean if you're OCD like I am about your guns then it's best to just carry like an M & P Shield, cheap enough where you don't have to worry about holster wear, that or a RIA.

I carry both a S&W Shield and a Glock, both are Nitride finish. Even with Nitride finished slides, they show wear from carry. The point, no matter what finish (stainless the exception) are going to wear if you carry and draw/holster on a regular basis. If you are carrying, then you should be training on a regular basis, so your weapon no matter the finish should be worn.

In the end when all is said and done any gun that you carry in a holster daily is gonna see some wear after holstering at the beginning of the day and taken out at the end of the day. My personal nightmare is carrying a mirror polished stainless steel pistol the amount of scratches and wear would be insane.
