CCW Blued Guns?

IMHO, a nicely blued 1911 with holster wear from a proper leather holster (Milt Sparks or equivalent) is the bees knees. Wear from kydex just ain't the same. Plus, you get all of that wonderful wear along the backstrap and the grip safety from your palms. It's a beautiful thing.
Cuz, anyone can buy a new gun. People see honest wear and they know.Les Baer 1911: Premier II w/1.5" Guarantee, Blued, No FCS, Combat Rear, F/O Front, Checkered MSH & SA Professional Double Diamond Grips

Dan life is way to short to worry about that, enjoy the gun and use it as it’s intended to be used. Like others have said, honest holster and use ware only adds to a firearms looks and character.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

If you're concerned about wear on your CCW gun, you shouldn't carry it. All holsters leave some sort of wear or marring on the gun.
I carry a Gluck. They're already uglier than sin to begin with so it's not a loss if the slide gets scratches, streaks, and scuffs.Comment

One of my carry guns had a beautiful blueing on it.........had. Just simply holstering the gun a few times starts taking it away. Its honest wear and I don't worry about it. I will oil the gun more than the stainless guns to keep my sweat from causing any issues on the finish.
If it is that nice of a finish you have two choices....safe queen or worn finish.JACComment

I don't even carry valuable guns any more. All of these new, disposable plastic guns that have no soul cover that square..
Back in the day, I was sure that I'd never own a plastic gun, but they certainly fit the use for a CCW, and I've accumulated several.Comment

I carried a blued 1911 for years.
When the finish was well worn, I had it refinished and started carrying Glocks.
A nicely blued pistol is a real pleasure to behold.
However, I'd rather carry a disposable/replaceable polymer gun (Glock, SIG, etc.) now days...Last edited by GlockN'Roll; 04-19-2022, 9:25 AM.Real Californian...Comment
