    Ammo availability picking up again

Seems like availability is picking up again, and at prices that is a little more reasonable.

Lately saw Target Sports have a ton of 9mm (good brands Federal and Remington) at more reasonable prices, but not great (still in the 33-38 cpr range for FMJ).

They even have some 22lR, with mini mags at 9cpr. Better than I have seen in a while.

223/556 is available, but prices actually went up the last few months (guess people are stocking up again for some reason........Russia/Ukraine??).

Some good news to start the weekend.

Yeah, at Bass Pro in Mesa AZ they've got everything, but it's going to cost you.

I'm still having trouble finding 38 Super that and 500 Magnum but these are obscure calibers so I understand I'll always have trouble here in CA.

Yeah I laugh at Big5's so called sale price EVERYDAY. They went from standing in line to buy a couple boxes to now too many to sell at the ridiculous pricing

Big 5 has offerd pandemic pricing long before there was ever a pandemic.

For something so native to us, 5.56/.223 is still yet expensive. 9mm is going down faster than it.

I'm averaging down on 7.62x39. Cheapest I've found so far is 35cpr.

As has been happening, availability seems to be happening in waves. Unfortunately, we've become desperate enough to jump on any availability as an hopeful sign that it's about over; i.e., we overemphasize the crests and lament the troughs of the waves as indicators of gloom or doom.

For me, the telling sign is that prices are still ludicrously high. I can see a certain amount of inflation. However, I simply can't buy into being ammunition being 2, 3, and even 4 times (or more) what it was before this whole fiasco started and take it as a positive sign that things are ending.

Another sign, for me, is the availability of reloading components. Such is still spotty, at best, and prices are still inflated. To me that is suggestive of the idea that the manufacturers are still dedicating those components to finished ammunition, indicating a perceived, higher profit potential.

Does that mean that the manufacturers are 'profiteering' or 'gouging?' Does it mean that there remains a shortage of materials or that demand remains too high when set against production capabilities? Does it mean that manufacturers still view this as a 'temporary surge' and cannot rationalize investment toward increasing production? Does it mean some of all of that coupled with continued uncertainty for the market given what Government is doing?

Who knows? But, to me, it indicates that it ain't over yet and I'm dubious it will be until we see another regime change and, overall, I'm beyond dubious that prices are going to return to the 'older, more affordable (and reasonable) levels.'

Prices are absurd still but I am stocking up as I can. And now that I refuse to support sportsmans because of them refusing to ppt non roster guns I will just have to pay a little more at local shops.

You can tell there's still a whole lot of gouging still going on by the number of vendors selling a 9mm item for example, for 40-60 cpr, plus a high shipping rate, plus tax, while others are selling the exact same item for 30-35 cpr with free shipping and in some instances, as I have report in my deals thread, no tax. For many, that's another 8-10% savings.

$ 25.95 for win 7.63X51 M80 that should be about $ 18.95 Bass Pro Sevierville TN. Same or worse from store to store, $ 14.95 for win .223 55gr or higher for what should be $10.95 to $ 12.95. Off brands priced maybe $1.00 less depending on what brand appears out of no where from Turkey or eastern europe. BUT... at least its available is the best point of view these days if you have the $$. And, don't go to the range and burn up your stash just pocking holes in paper is my humble point of view. Classic Arms has alot of brands suddenly on the market from European never heard of brands before. Take a look.
