"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

Stock Glocks for me as well. I went through that phase of changing connectors & other bits & bobs, back in the day, but reverted to stock for improved reliability.

Ain't that the truth. Many guns are the most reliable when they're in their stock form.

Though, in some cases I think there are exceptions - for example I've got a heavier 21# recoil spring in my G29 because the super-light 16# spring it came with tends to make the gun jam up when shooting hotter 10mm defensive rounds. So I feel vastly more confident in my G29's ability to go bang every time I need it to when it's got that aftermarket part in it.

But otherwise, in a lot of cases, I think you're right that most guns are best left alone when it's a weapon your life is depending on (other than non-mechanical mods like night sights, grips, etc)
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

If the shooting is good and intentional then modifications should not matter especially for home defense.

Modifications matter only when trying to prove a negligent shooting.

This comes up fairly often on here, and it's always fun reading everyone's comments. I, for one, am not hopeful I'll ever see my HD gun again if I have to use it, so I've chosen the cheapest one possible that still shoots reliably and accurately. And I make sure to bring it to the range every trip to stay up on shooting it. God forbid it has to be used, I know it'll shoot, and it'll shoot well. And if I never see it again, well that sucks but it can always (almost) be replaced.
It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

No handgun as a HD gun for me. I have a simple and efficient Mossberg 930 tactical. Nothing fancy no lights, lasers or red dot. Just a simple fiberoptic bead and some 00 buck.

Now if I didn't loose my other guns in a tragic boating accident I would....

Les Baer Thunder Ranch, old with countless rounds thru it but well maintained. Not the most expensive I own but the one I have the most trust in and handle the best.
Oh no, not another 1911 !

I don't need the most accurate at most SD/HD ranges. My most expensive guns are specialized and sometimes the quest for accuracy can affect reliability. My CZ's, my S&W revolvers, and occasionally my Glocks.

That's a great line right there! I might have to borrow that one day

On my bedside table is a Glock 19.
On another side of the room is a Sig P238.
In the living room is a Glock 22.

Just a cheap RIA 1911 here. 45ACP. I actually shoot it pretty well.

Also my rattly old Mossberg 500. These are the guns I am most intimate and familiar with. Why would I use anything else for HD?
Just taking up space in (what is no longer) the second-worst small town in California.

I agree with the cheap RIA 1911. For the price I was surprised how well they shoot.

X2 - XD9 w/ light and talon grips. Otherwise stock. Sentimental, but very replaceable if it ends up as evidence.
