I don’t think most of them will even chamber.

    Pull the components

Not worth it. Find a buddy who reloads and have him harvest the powder, primers and bullets.

        If it fits it fires.

I doubt most will fit. If it did - I would be wary of the super loose chamber required.

I handload big bore revolver calibers, some bottleneck and .45-70, but I've never tried to harvest unfired primers that have already been seated in their brass.

            Anyone?

I use a Lee decapper. Goggles or face shield.
You push the primer out with steady pressure.

It they are crimped primers. I would not try it.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

All the time. I've never had a live primer go off when removing it from a case. They always worked after putting them in another cartridge. Now if the anvil falls out of the primer, I'd toss it out but that rarely happens.

For those awful looking reloads, I'd pull the bullets, sprinkle the powder onto the lawn or flower beds, resize the cases and load 'em up. Probably with a low recoil load or a cat sneeze load where the Pmax is around 20k psi. That should fire form the case and get them back in proper shape.

Personally I would not shoot that ammo unless it was literally life or death and thats all i got.
