    DOJ - Gun-Safe Requirements

I only thought about a DOJ approved safe as being something I'd need for the purpose of being compliant in a scenario where my house was searched, and that possibility was extremely remote, until recently.
But today, there are departments who are looking to target citizens and there seems to be an increased likelyhood of officers inspecting citizen's homes... Maybe even unannounced.
If not today, then how near in the future?

I didn't have a gun safe because I don't have kids and I keep my guns in a storage area where they're less likely to be stolen than anywhere else.

But - For the sake of compliance, I have been wondering

In a scenario where a friend of a friend has been red flagged and his weapons seized and the ATF searches his phone and finds my name there and decide to pay me a visit, unannounced... Or just for any reason uniformed officers pay my house an unexpected visit...

What would be expected of me in that situation, as far as storage compliance?

    Thank You In Advance

Read this and then search the PCs at the bottom of the article for a better understanding of what the law really says.

California gun owners are required to store the guns securely when they know (or should know) that the weapons could be accessed by children or adults who are prohib
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Short answer - with no children and no expectation of children, state and Federal law is silent on gun storage.

Those gun locks you have to have at purchase? Those are a thing for FFLs; they cannot deliver without the lock or a safe affidavit for long guns. No state or Federal law requires you use them.

A couple of cities have gun storage requirements. Check your local laws.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!
