I have always either rented a truck and moved myself, or simply spread the ammo out among several moving boxes, simply labeled "garage." If you load a POD yourself, I would just put it in there but boxed up and not labeled as ammo.

Packing Ammo For a Move

Just be sure to check state and local laws before you choose the state. We are looking to buy land, I want a private shooting range. I have found some property in the area we want to move to with a large shop building already built on it. Prices have been dropping over the past 6 months there so we plan to wait another year then buy. If we can land with a shop or other out building already on the land, we can drop a load off every time we make a trip to visit our son in Illinois. As son as his soon to be wife finishes nursing school, they will be moving to near where we are planning to move.
When I moved it was a few dozen ammo cans and a half dozen crates.
You can get them for free. Small Priority Mail boxes are about the same size as an ammo can, and are fairly stout cardboard. The post office gives them away for nothing. There's a reason ammo cans are the size they are. Ammo is heavy. Go ahead and load up some rubbermaid totes, or moving boxes and let us know how that works out. A milk crate will be strong enough, but you're going to have a real tough time moving it around.
Smaller, heavy-duty cardboard boxes are best if you don't have ammo cans. I suggest something around the size of an ammo can. You can order them online or Office Depot.Comment

Sounds like my car on my final trip. Back seat full, front seat full. This was before the statewide hi-cap ban, but LA had one. I chose my route to avoid as much LA as I could, but I still had to go several miles on 210, sweating bullets the whole time. I had a couple thousand in hi-caps easy, that I brought with me in the 80's.Comment

Wyoming, not a problem. Most every small town has a free public range just outside of town. It is even better now that it is Constitutional Carry.Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.
A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.
Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

[QUOTE=jeremiah12;26638546]My state used to be like that, then many years later all those ranges are gone, replaced by houses.
